WWE.com has updated with a story saying John Cena has suffered some sort of injury to his shoulder. No more details are available but they say Cena is heading to Birmingham, AL to see Dr. James Andrews. Cena says he will compete at No Mercy, no matter what. Stay tuned for more updates.

As posted earlier, John Cena appears to have been injured in the match with Kennedy last night.

The word coming from backstage is that Cena is believed to have suffered a torn right pectoral muscle after a botched hiptoss on Kennedy that ended with Kennedy landing on Cena. Cena then did an arm-drag on Kennedy and the two ended up in the corner, which led to a clean break. Cena backed up to the opposite corner, clearly favoring his arm.

John Cena is scheduled to undergo an MRI tomorrow in Alabama. We'll keep you updated on any other details.

WWE is proceeding this morning as if WWE Champion John Cena does indeed have a torn right pectoral muscle that he suffered during his match last night on RAW against the returning Ken Kennedy. Cena is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews today in Birmingham, Alabama for a full medical checkup to determine the exact severity of the injury. WWE will adjust the No Mercy PPV depending on his medical status.

There is a lot of concern inside the WWE locker room as if his pectoral muscle is indeed torn; normal rehabilitation time is four months. Cena is considered one of the top guys in the company and a severe injury such as this is a huge blow to WWE. For those that do not remember, Edge suffered a torn left pectoral muscle back in July and that is why he has been out of action.
This kinda sucks. Say what you want about how tedious you might have found his run as WWE champ this past 12 months but he is a legitimate nice guy who works hard for the company and does a lot of work for charity as well.

I hope he has a speedy recovery

Default Re: Various news-bits on John Cena's injury

WWE.com is reporting that after meeting with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama, it has been determined that John Cena has "suffered a complete tear of his right pectoral tendon" and will have to forfeit the WWE Championship as a result.

According to Dr. Andrews, Cena could be out anywhere from six to eight months. This is obviously a huge blow to WWE right now and the company will now have to determine who will be Randy Orton's opponent at No Mercy this Sunday in Chicago, IL to determine a new WWE Champion.

You can view the full WWE article at this link. The company stated an announcement is forthcoming about Orton's opponent at No Mercy this Sunday to determine a new WWE Champion.

..

Wow .. I know we all wanted Cena stripped of the title .. but what a way to go out. I hope he recovers alright. I wonder how this is going to effect the whole possible Jericho return storyline.
