The following took place on Tuesday in Albany, NY:

Dark Match:

- Johnny Jeter defeated Kenny Dykstra.

- The Daltons defeated Dave Taylor & Paul Burchill.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown Tapings (Air Date: August 31):

- The show kicked off with World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali coming out with his translator. Smackdown GM Teddy Long announced a series of matches tonight to determine a new #1 contender that would see Kane vs. Finlay and Rey Mysterio vs. Batista with the winners facing each other in the main event.

- Finlay defeated Kane in a tournament match.

- WWE U.S. Champion MVP & Matt Hardy defeated Deuce & Domino to win the WWE Tag Team Titles.

- Backstage, Vince McMahon was talking with Jonathan Coachman and talked about spending a lot of time in Washington, DC - where Batista is from. Batista showed up and said he grew up poor, so if he found out Vince was his dead, he would kick his ass.

- Eugene was in the ring shooting t-shirts to the crowd when Mark Henry came out and attacked him. Henry got on the mic and said he wasn't scared of The Undertaker returning at Unforgiven. A video plays promoting Undertaker's return.

- Rey Mysterio defeated Batista via DQ in a tournament match. Finlay tried to interfere with a chair, but Batista stopped him. The referee went to grab the chair, but Batista shoved him down causing the DQ.

- They did another in-ring segment with Jonathan Coachman bringing out women Vince McMahon had been with in the past. One of them was a nun. Vince plugged his family would be confronting him on Raw.

- Chuck Palumbo accepted a Masterlock Challenge. Masters broke the hold and started attacking Palumbo. When Palumbo got the upper hand, Masters rolled out and left.

- Backstage, Jamie Noble was talking to Shannon Moore and how he would get a shot at Hornswoggle's WWE Crusierweight Title next week. Noble said once he beats Hornswoggle, no one would laugh at him again. When Noble walked away, he had a "I Love Leprechauns" sign on his back.

- Rey Mysterio defeated Finlay in a tournament final to earn a shot at the World Heavyweight Title. After the match, Khali comes out and stares down Mysterio. Some said Mysterio was barely in the camera shot for this stare down. Khali then pushed Mysterio down to end the show.

You've got to give props to the Smackdown creative team for managing to find so many different angles to keep MVP on camera while he isn't medically at 100%.

I hope Rey manages to beat the giant, no-talent: Khali and hopefully get him off our screens for good. He's already jobbed for Cena so let's just get rid of him already
