This is a guide on how to install codecs to be able to watch NSV files on Winamp.

1. If you haven't done already then download and install Winamp
2. Download and install the X264 software

Right so you've got Winamp and the codec installed, now your ready to install and configure the special decoder used to make the image suitable for your viewing.

The H264 Decoder: then follow the steps below, I've included screenshots just so you don't get lost!

1 - Install the H264 Decoder software

2 - Open the program shown in the below screenshot








When you've opened up the VFW Codec Configuration you will see a window as shown below, click the 'Decoder' tab then right click on H.264 and select "Set all stable formats to libavcodec"

An example is shown below.









When you see that most of the formats have changed click "Ok"

Now the last step, the most tricky part. Its not tricky but its harder then the rest.

Just follow the step by step images and you'll be fine.













Next step -

Once in "My Computer"locate the "Program Files" folder like so








Now in that locate the "Winamp" folder as shown below




Now within that you'll find a folder called "Plugins" double click on it..



We'll come back to the "Plugins" folder shortly, till then just minimize it.


This next step is one the people always get wrong, we don't know why because it's very easy. If you can 'drag and drop' you can do this next step!

Click the link below to open the Zip folder containing the Winamp plugin, once you have the folder open on your screen proceed to the next step..

Your open window may look slightly different from below depending if you have "WinRAR" installed, if you havn't don't worry, the one thats built into windows does the same job!



Restore the "Plugins" window that you minimized earlier and bring the zip folder to the front (that's not hard just click on the title bar) now very simply just click on the file in the folder, then click again but hold it down and drag it into an open space in the "Plugins" folder.



You now have everything you need!

You need to follow this guide to configure Winamp to play NSV files properly.

Ok lets Install Now

Before we install please make sure you have all necessary programs and
winamp then:

1. Unzip nsv_x264.zip to a temporary folder and then copy the codec nsvdec_x264.dll to
winamp plugins which should be located program files > winamp > plugins.

2. Now install the first download FFD show.

3. And now install h264 install.

4. And last but not least configure FFD show like this:

click start menu->programs -> ffdshow -> VFW Codec configuration.

In there you will see 2 "Tabs" at the top. click the Decoder tab click and highlight "Codecs" on the top left and a list of installed Codecs will appear on your right.

Look for h264 in the list and right click on it and select from the menu that pops up "Set all stable formats to libavcodec". Then click "Apply" and "OK" to save and close the window.

Here is a guide that will get you watching NSV files in about 10 minutes.
