Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | That's not a mistake. You have two options for everything on the site. Either you can get it in a plastic bag (cheaper) or in a five pound bucket like the stuff you buy at GNC (a little less inexpensive) I've been saving all of my empty 5lb buckets, so I'm just going to transfer everything I buy into those ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | WELL... every cookie has 10g of protein, 5g of carbs, and 1(?)g of fat iirc... that's 16g per cookie. There's 454g in a pound. Which means there is approximately 28 cookies, of which would contain 280g of protein. Math rules the world ![]() The degredation of the whey during 40 seconds of microwaving is not significant enough to damage the amino chain as far as I know.

Thank you for your questions. Skeeloth handled just about all of them and here is a little more info. Baking or microwaving does NOT significantly effect the protein powder. While it's true that proteins can be denatured by heat, unless the protein structure is particularly delicate or exposed to extremely high temperatures for extended periods of time, any denaturation that takes place is likely to be minimal. It is also important to keep in mind that denatured DOES NOT equal non-nutritious or unavailable - denaturation simply refers to a situation where the physical or chemical structure of a protein is rearranged. In some cases the denaturation process is temporary (e.g. whipping egg whites into a foam); in others, such as when you fry an egg, the denaturation is permanent. In both situations, the egg contains the same amino acid makeup and is equally nutritious. In fact, the fried egg is actually slightly more nutritious when cooked because cooking inactivates a component that binds the essential B-vitamin biotin. Now this being said it is better to bake or microwave whey protein as opposed to exposing to higher temps as in pan frying. | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | That was actually very interesting. I knew that cooking egg whites deactivated biotin, but I did not know that denatured proteins could be temporary. Out of (albeit wrong) intuition I just always thought that any rearrangement of the structure would cause it to be unsuitable for bodybuilding purposes. Obviously I was wrong. I suppose the best example is..... chicken parmasean. Even though you cook the hell out of it, the protein is still all there, and is still all bioavailable and good for building muscle. cool. Wouldn't microwaving generate a higher (but different) heat than pan frying? iirc mircowave ovens work by vibrating water molecules?
