| FDU Devils Weightlifter | -diet was as good as it has gotten this month, and even that hasnt been enough. I've been packing on a ton of solid muscle this month (see the PB thread I'm there quite often :-D). -my lat poses came out bad and my battery is dead w/ no replacements, I'll take a new one tomorow for it b/c I want comparisons to last months.-Started taking Animal Cut yesterday to aid in my slower then optimal fat loss. Getting another BF test tomorow, last one put me @ 28.7, which is down from 31.something from 4 months ago.

Ok 1 thing I noticed is that you are talking about adding muscle, while I see also that you are cutting right now. The problem with that is. You can not add muscle in a caloric deficit, and you can not lose fat in a caloric surplus. What are you doing for cardio????

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | if i have time (this week was bad for example, projects up the ass) I do 20 minutes HIIT running after upperbody days and on the days i dont lift I do 20 minutes HIIT (if my legs can take it, if not just 4mph walking). plus im on animal cuts. my calories are at/around maintence right now, im adjusting to a new diet and foods (eating clean, and i wont turn back i swear).

once you adjust, just try to eat a little less at each meal.. not much less.. a few bites less.. it adds up over the day. HIIT is good, but you shouldn't do it more than 3 times a week, and it is best if you don't do it on training days... when you lift do 4 sets of each exercise 8 - 12 reps per set, and only take 30 seconds rest between sets.. You will not be able to use as much weight because of the short rest periods, but you will speed up your metabolism alot. competitive bodybuilders do this because it is very effective. I know you hate to lower the weights you are using, but the results are better. powerman made a log with his results from it.. powerman's Mango training log

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | yeah, i hear ya. ill probally do that once i hit a 405 dl and squat. I've been telling everyone I'll have those lifts mastered by end of semester, so I gotta live up to it. I'm trying to lose weight, but not like super duper fast. I'm losing fat, but im still the same weight as I was 6 months ago. I'm down I think 4% bodyfat so far from that time. Doing a bf test in a few weeks, we shall see.

when you first start lifting for the first few months it is possible to lose fat, while gaining muscle.. they call it "newbie gains" but after that it is pretty much impossible to do both at the same time... do low rep 3 or 4 high weight squats, and deads, but do the 4 sets short rest on everything else, and the fat should start melting off... whatever you decide to do.. good luck..

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | I'm still within the first year of lifting, so I'm still getting some newbie gains.

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | haha, I'm just adjusting to the diet and I'll cut the calories, right now 2100-2200 is what I'm at a day, I'll drop it to around 1800 or so, just as soon as I get used to new foods. and I don't like that idea of bulking or cutting!

It's not an idea, it is a fact. Attept to do both at the same time, and you will go nowhere fast. Pro bodybuilder bulk, then cut for a reason. It is because it is the quickest, and most effective way.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 60 | The advice others just provided I gave you weeks ago in your log and you seemed reluctant to accept or heed my advice. I hope having others give you the same spiel will help the information hit home. I admire your work ethic when it comes to your training, but your methodology and diet need to be changed or you will continue to spin your wheels. Your priority should be cutting, plain and simple... lose the fat and maintain strength as best you can. Do not obsess with strength gains at this point and get the notion of recomping out of your head, it just doesn't work.
