Default for kendra or any figure competitors

hey all...not my area of knowledge, so figured this is the best place to ask

I have a friend who's interested in possibly getting into figure...works out a ton and LOVES bodybuilding/fitness/figure, etc

anyway, she's 21, and curious at what weight, etc typically girls compete at for amateurs

she's 5'10, 130lbs and in great shape ATM(attached picture)

I can tell you that she is very pretty. I am curious too what a 5'10 girl would way in a competition. Kendra is only like 5'1 and weighs 110 and looks incredible so I think a girl at 5'10 could hold a lot more weight if needed.

I think she would be in a class all her own, thats tall!! I was told I am tall for a body builder if I choose to compete and I am 5' 6".

The best bodybuilders are between the heights of 5'6-5'10 for men... for women it would be a bit shorter. The shorter you are the better you can fill out. Now in figure this is different.

Hey Proppy,

In NPC Figure, remember there are no weight classes, only height classes.

Here are the height classes at the National Level:

Up to and including 5'2"
Over 5'2" and up to and including 5'3"
Over 5'3" and up to and including 5'5"
Over 5'5"

At the State and Regional Level there are either 2 or 3 height classes depending on the size of the show, broken down like this:

Figure contests with two (2) height classes will be:

Up to and including 5'3"
Over 5'3"

Figure contest with three (3) height classes will be:

Up to and including 5'3"
Over 5'3" and up to and including 5'5"
Over 5'5"

At the State level you often see good Fitness and Figure competitors competing around 10% Bodyfat, +/- a couple %

When you get up to the National level they are typically in the 6-9% range on stage.

The judges typically look for a harder physique from Fitness competitors than they do from Figure competitors.

Women's bodybuilding is done by weight classes and they are broken down this way:

National Level:

Lightweight Up to and including 115
Middleweight Over 115 and up to and including 125
Light Heavyweight Over 125 and up to and including 140
Heavyweight Over 140

For all women's bodybuilding contests with three (3) classes:

Lightweight Up to and including 125
Middleweight Over 125 and up to and including 140
Heavyweight Over 140
For all women's bodybuilding contests with two (2) classes:

Lightweight Up to and including 125
Heavyweight Over 125

I hope that helps and good luck to your friend.

Just let us know if you need any additional help!

Kendra is only 5'1? Her legs in the new ALRI ad look 6 feet long

I am estimating. I think she told me one time but I am pretty sure she is under 5'2. She does have some long legs for a short girl =)

Yep.. 5'1 and about 106-107 lbs this week.

She wears 6 inch heals in her photo shoots and on stage though.. so that makes a big difference!

12-15% is likely to be too high for most shows of any size, but I don't ever actually take the bodyfat % of any of my competitors.

What really matters is how they look, not the number. It's most important to look the way you need to look, and the % necessary to have the right look can really vary from individual to individual.
