Default WifeofPsycholic -- Journey Towards Improvement

Here is the beginning of my workout log. I'm hoping that by putting information here, I can better track my progress and any bumps in the road that may come up (as they usually do).

I started working with Michael in November (the week of Thanksgiving, no less!). So far, his is the only plan that's worked. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis about 2-3 years ago, and it's been an UPHILL battle to drop the weight. Since I've been with him, I've dropped 10 pounds, lost a half inch off my waist, and inches elsewhere. I'm very pleased.

My workouts:

Monday -- Chest / shoulders / triceps / abs
Tuesday -- Cardio
Wednesday -- Back / biceps / abs
Thursday -- Cardio
Friday -- Legs / Abs
Saturday -- Cardio

Oh, and did I mention that I'm also in school half time? Yeah, so work, then class, then gym. I don't get home until 9 at night!

I am going to do a small switch up this week. I don't have class tomorrow night, and a ton of homework due by Thursday, so I'll be doing cardio tonight and then my chest / shoulders / triceps / abs workout tomorrow night, so I can get home and start busting out the work!

So far, I've stuck exactly with my diet today. I'm tired, which is normal; I can't ever sleep.

Well, I weighed in at 179 this morning. I'm not happy about this, but I fully blame myself. After all, no one forced the Mexican on me Saturday night, or made me eat pizza Sunday night. *sigh*

Yesterday I did cardio on the awesome treadmills-with-TVs at the Bodyplex. Started out with an 8% incline as warm up, then went up to 10%, 12%, and ended (and stayed) on 15%, all at 2.8mph. House was on TV, and though it was a repeat, I love that show. I only got to 40 minutes because nature didn't just call, it hit with a gut punch. Memo to me: pee before getting on the treadmill.

Tonight is chest / shoulders / triceps / abs. Should be a good workout.

Morning info: woke up tired. Yay, surprise, surprise.

Did a fairly good workout last night. I got to 25lbs with DB chest presses; the most I've done is 35 and that was with Chris heavily spotting. I also did 20lbs on the DB chest flyes; I think I'll stick with that weight for a bit to make sure that I keep my form.

Tonight I'll have to skip the gym; I have homework due Thursday that I need to finish tonight. So I'll have to make sure I hit it harder tomorrow for Cardio Thursday!

Stuck to my diet exactly yesterday, and I did notice the scale moved a few pounds in the right direction this morning, so I'm thinking all the sodium from the Mexican food is finally starting to work its way out. Now I have to figure out how to back out from the going away lunch at a Lebanese restaurant I've already agreed to for a girl on my team at work. Perhaps I'll still go, and just pick the healthiest thing on the menu.

Keep up the Great work!
It's great to see that you are doing a log for your IMPC training.
It will be a great source of support and motivation for you.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your results over the coming months!

Ok. Haven't updated in a few days, so here's my mega update:

Wednesday: Didn't go to the gym; I had some homework that I had to complete, and since I actually have to work at my job now, I knew that I couldn't finish it during the day.

Thursday: Didn't go to the gym; class ran late, and I was hungry, so I just went home. Both days, though, I stuck to my diet, so I felt slighly okay about missing the gym.

Friday: Did legs with Chris. WOW! I hate squats. BUT, I did leave the gym feeling like I'd actually worked out. My legs were Jell-O. And watching footage on the tornado that hit Dallas didn't hurt. I managed a superset of squats at 60-40-30, 12 times each. Then did superset triple drop sets of leg extensions and leg curls, calf extensions, and then flat crunches with a 6 pound medicine ball. I was hurting by the time it was all over with!

Saturday: Decided to do back and biceps since I missed my Wednesday workout. Did back on my own (pulldowns and cable rows), and then did biceps with Chris. I'd been complaining that I hadn't seen any changes in my biceps since starting this, and I don't believe I've been pushing myself hard enough on this. As much as I try to push myself when working out alone, I do push harder with Chris (hence, the squats). So, I did BB curls with 40 pounds (and managed to get 5 with 50lbs), and preacher curls with 15lb DB. Usually I get 30lbs on the curlbar, and 10 with the DB. Now that I know I can do it, I can do it on my own.

The next week or so is going to be interesting; Sunday I got the outline done for a half sleeve on my right arm. Tonight I'll be tentative at first, but I think since it's just the outline, I should be fine. The full coloring in a few weeks is what's going to affect me the most. I don't want to be out of the gym for very long.

Oh, and this morning's scale? 171. I'm definitely doing something right!
