Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 11 | Monday; Week Two Bench Press 55 x 5 65 x 5 75 x 5 85 x 5 95 x 5 As you'd imagine, the first three were light as hell. I could really feel my chest working the press; gave me a good idea of how it should feel when lifting heavier later on. 85 was pretty easy too;my brother came over to spot me but I had no trouble with it. 95 was real easy until the last rep, but I completed that unassisted. I've started keeping a 1 second pause at the bottom of the rep before I press up now; two to three seconds down and two up. Didn't get a real good pump, but I sure felt it a few hours later. Bent Over Rows (Pendlay style) 45 x 5 55 x 5 65 x 5 75 x 5 85 x 5 I could feel these again in the lats real good. I feel my back working a lot more than any other bodypart when training them. 75 was surprisingly light, but I had a little trouble on the last rep of the last set. Normally I use a little chalk because the bar is pretty shitty and when it's warm natually you sweat, but today I forgot to bring it which changed things a little. Felt good afterward though. Squats 60 x 5 (warmup) 90 x 5 100 x 5 110 x 5 120 x 5 135 x 5 I don't know if the initial set of 40 should count; I do that because my knees are a little stiff normally and I need to get into the groove. Plus, I find leg extensions to be relatively useless when trying to warm up the knees and quads. Anyhow, the first four worksets were the same in terms of poundages as they were last Monday. The final set was up 5kg to 135. I failed on the fourth rep, right after three almost perfect previous reps. I just went down too low. But my brother convinced me to rack the bar up and perform another two to get out the five; right after my dad called me and asked if I'd invested in a company that blew the market apart (which I didn't - I was holding off for another month or so). The anger helped me get the last two out. Shit it hurt. Weighted Hypers 15 x 10 15 x 10 I did the hypers with a 15kg plate. Kicked the crap out of my lower back. Nothing else to add, really. On a side note, I had a good laugh tonight. There are a few kids there who normally lift when I do, but I saw them for the first time in a few weeks. They've been there around three months now I'd say, and it's a real treat watching them train. Even if I've had a shit day, they brighten it up for me. Apparently, the best tactic to pack on mass is to bench every night of the week, and perform curls right after. I'm talking about one guy bench; his spotter doing upright rows at the same time. They come in initially unable to bench 60kg but trying anyway; three months later they can barely bench 70kg unassisted but try 110kg every night. None of them have any size, and right after benching they do curls. Last count it was something like 15 sets. Supersetted with three sets of leg presses at 150kg. Quite a spectale. What's even better is when they do six sets of benches; they disappear for three quarters of an hour, then come back and bench for another six sets. Or, when they do assorted curls for 50 minutes.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 11 | Just realised - can't train tomorrow night I don't think; I have product training at work until 8 I believe and the damn gym closes at 9. And no way I'm gonna work out today; I just played 18 holes of golf. For those who care, 35 stableford points around a course I've only ever played once before; 11 months ago. And I was pissed something cruel that time ![]() Front 9 was pretty crappy - didn't hit a drive under 250m, but I wasn't too accurate and any recovery shot I had to play more than 150m out from the green I screwed up badly. Shot five pars and a birdie around the back though - which is the front 9, but different tee positions. Longest drive there was about 280m, shortest was 260m ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 11 | Friday Incline Bench Press 55 x 5 65 x 5 75 x 5 85 x 5 Missed Wednesdays workout due to work, so I figured I'd do it today and redo week two properly starting next Monday. Felt strong here, no spot needed. Quite happy I could punch up 85kg for the fourth set; means when I switch to inclines on Mondays and Fridays in three weeks, I'll be pressing more and hopefully getting bigger in the upper chest which is a real weak point right now. Pendlay Rows 50 x 5 60 x 5 70 x 5 80 x 5 Felt alright again. Really felt this in the mid lats and the insertions. Nothing more to report; back feels quite dead. Squats 90 x 5 100 x 5 110 x 5 120 x 5 Felt light again for the first three sets, fourth was a little heavy. I'd had piss all carbs today, so perhaps that could have had something to do with it. I seem to be a little apprehensive about going too heavy with squats right now, for some reason. I keep hitting failure, and when that happens I normally have the bar fall back to the safety pins on the rack. Only problem is, since my gut is growing, it's harder to breathe when I'm doubled over. Maybe I should cut a little ![]() I realised right after I squatted, back work for the day should have been deads ![]()
