Slipped a little bit during a pretty long day at work and some terrible food, scale said 261.0 last night at the gym. Despite this, I had a good shoulder day, I was able to push a little harder than normal despite not getting enough sleep and just generally felt good.

Scale at home said 254 a few minutes ago, so I'm ok with that. I'm about to go do cardio, and later today do legs (or I might do back, depends on how I feel).

Some days are easier than others to stay on track...

I think they should change the page layout to 20 posts per page - it took bloody forever to get to page 4.

Went and did cardio - scale said 258.1 (which is a new low).

I was able to keep 2.6 mph, 15.0 incline for 40 of my 45 minutes with my arms swinging. I think the problem with me doing this is that I keep my heart rate over 170 for almost the entire time (which is probably not good). Since then I feel kinda 'off'.

You might try holding the bar or the top of the control panel instead of swinging your arms. I do that and my heartrate is only slightly elevated. I still sweat. I am able to do a 3.3 mph with holding on. You might not burn as many calories this way though.

Congrats on the weight loss.

I was doing that for a while, but then I realized that you change your angle (you almost can't help it) to match the machine, so you lose angle that way. Part of the plan (aside from the fat loss) is to actually help my cardiovascular health out so that doing activities that require more effort can be performed to a greater degree due to the increased overall health, so I think that swinging the arms is more like a real world translation of actual cardio work.

if you find yourself bored, you can check out the log I have been keeping over at anabolicbeast.com (which was where I was logging to only until the 25th of last month when I came back here too).

Not doing too bad in that arena (but you can never be 'too' good), but I can definitely tell the cardio has helped my performance.

I just noticed your avatar, I don't think that's Jesus, I think that is the guy from the Zig Zag rolling papers.

It has been an 'interesting' few days.

(readers digest version) My stepdad had a massive stroke, so my mom took him to the hospital. They did a cat scan and put him in a bed, doped him up and consulted cardiologists and neurologists. Then he had another stroke, they did another cat scan and shortly afterwards rushed him into surgery where they removed part of the back of his skull and removed the damage tissue.

As of today he is coherent, alert, and flirting with the nurses. They won't know how much damage was done for a few more days, but so far so good.

And despite living on mountain dew and twix (I never realized how hard it is to find healthy food at a hospital of all places) all day yesterday, I weighed in at an astounding 257.4 at the gym (which is now the new low). At this rate I should be in the 240's before the end of the year.

Did shoulders yesterday, they felt great. Overhead db press I managed 3 sets of 10 with 80 lbs and only got 6 on my last set but it was a slow and hard set, so it felt great.

Upright rows with the smith machine (4 x 10 x 50), front raises with 30's (3 sets of 10 reps), one arm standing side laterals with a 20 (3 x 10) and seated rear lateral raises (also 3 sets of 10) - the raises were supersetted. I threw in some rear shrugs for good measure and finished off my workout with 3 sets of 12 with 900 on the leg press for calf raises. My shoulders look wide as hell and my traps are looking great as well. While we were at the hospital my family couldn't believe how much better I look. Waist is looking smaller every day too.

I can honestly say I don't remember ever feeling this good physically. My sleep schedule is a little jacked up right now, so I'll be at the gym doing back at 8 in the morning today (and I'll be on the harley - it's going to be 70 degrees today!).

If you can't do one, step on something to get up there and then do negatives. This will increase your strength and over time you will be able to do one, then two, etc...

Good luck and congrats on the new low.

Ok, I'm back again.

Step-dad is doing better, they let him go home for a couple of hours on Christmas day, which was cool.

I ate like absolute crap this week, and for some reason I'm totally ok with that. I'll just hit it hard and fast and be back to normal in a few days (last night at the gym the scale said 262, and this morning it was 260.2, so I'm only a couple of pounds heavier than I was before christmas).

I will say this, there is no sin so great, no pleasure so divine as a mushroom cheesesteak from the phillie connection, served with french fries and a dr pepper. It was junk food nirvana.

We still have a metric ton of Honey Baked Ham left that the in-laws didn't eat (we planned for more people than showed and got entirely too big of a ham). Since it was kinda pricey, I want to see how bad it is and try and eat on it throughout the week to replace some other meat.

I am taking the extra calories I took in this week and putting them to work by lifting a little harder than normal to try and offset.

Chris

Weight was around 260 at the gym, still not overly concerned. Since I ran out of my Hyperdrive pills, I have been using some stuff that is basically NO-Xplode for a bit of pre-workout energy, and it has creatine in it, so I'm probably holding more water than normal. I was so impressed with the Hyperdrive 3.0 that I went to one of the local nutrition places (one of the dudes who works there knows his supplements really well, so I like shopping there) that I took some up there for them to try and they were going to try and start carrying several of the ALRI line (they were impressed too). I don't care if that stuff was a placebo or not, I need it! My ability to control my food consumption is 'off' for some reason (not gone, just slightly off), I need the appetite suppresant qualities of the stuff and the never ending tap of energy.

Did some back today, was kinda tired but still managed a decent workout. I decided that I was going to quit using straps and gloves and go back to basics (a few weeks ago I had forgotten my straps and went to do some deadlifts and couldn't hold the weight, so I realized I need to boost my hand strength, so I'm going au-natural for a while). Nothing to write home about, did pull 365 on the deads today, and went for 405 but couldn't hold it past the knees. Someone had used some chalk (which is forbidden at this particular gym) and there was still some on the floor and on the bar, so that felt good to be able to use. I am seriously entertaining the idea of buying 500 lbs of weight and a good olympic bar and setting up a little dead-lift temple in my garage where I can pump crazy music and use lots of chalk on back days. My wife got me a grip-master thing for christmas, so I think using that for a few weeks will also help with my grip strength.
