See if there is a clinic near you, they might be able to help. Read the information on their website to see if they can help you out.

An orthopedic doctor will know in 2 seconds weather it is torn, or ruptured etc. just by touching it.. they will probably send you for an MRI to confirm their findings.. a rupture, or a mild tear, and it will most likely heal itself, but a larger tear, and you could find yourself waiting a couple months hoping for it to heal only to find out you needed surgery to repair it... I go to my primary care doctor, and she sends me to whatever specialist I need to go to. I am fortunate that I live near New England orthopedics. they have a lot of really great doctors. that deal with only specific areas. for example, one doc deals only with hands, another doctor deals with wrist , etc.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 203 | I did go to the gym tonight. Here is what I decided that I should do to work around my injury until it heals. Monday 8/28/06 BB Squats (5x5- 255lbs) BB Military Press (95x5, 115x5, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5) BB Rows (105x5, 125x5, 140x5, 160x5, 175x5) Hyper Exts (2x8- 25lbs) Seated Calves (4x8- 135lbs) Cybex Ab Crunches (4x8- 120lbs) I decided to start the 5x5 over again and replace the bench and incline presses with military presses. It all went well. I found that I could not use the Nautilus ab machine that I normally do because it hurt my injury too much. I'm referring to the ab machine that has one's hands gripping the handles up by your head. That angle put a lot of stress on the injury so I switched machines. The ab machine I was able to use has a bar across your chest that you lean forward against into a crunched position.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 203 | Wednesday 8/30/06 I tweaked things around a bit. Some because I want to and some because I have to from the injury. I definitely can't complain about my ability to continue lifting with the injury and all. BB Military Press (5x5- 135lbs) seated BB Squats (5x5- 205lbs) raw and a narrow stance about 8" wide Deadlifts (5x5- 315lbs) raw HammerStrength Pulldowns-Front Grip (5x5- 230lbs) Deadlifts were still done in a stop-n-go fashion rather than a touch-n-go. I wasn't sure how deads would affect my injury and I'm happy to report that I felt no affects. I was supposed to do wide grip cable pulldowns, but I instantly realized that my injury would prevent me from doing that particular movement when I grabbed the bar and sat down on the seat. I could definitely feel a lot of pressure and pulling on my chest near my arm pit. I didn't even try one repetition. I just knew better. That's why I went to the HammerStrength pulldown instead, which felt ok to do. Overall, a very good and very cautious workout. I even tested my bicep with some very light bicep curls with a barbell. BB Curls 20lbsx30, 30lbsx20, 40lbsx15 I know it was ridiculously light, but I was being cautious and I'm also happy to say that the test went well. No pain. ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 299 | Bro that doesn't look like something you should ignore and hope it get's better on it's own. Next heavy lift could turn into an EME incident if there is already damage. |

I know I have some pretty good trauma there and I also know it's not a serious pec tear. It's feeling a little better every day and I'm going to be cautious and play things by ear. What would you have me do? Stop lifting altogether? I don't need a doctor to tell me that it doesn't require surgery. I know it doesn't.

It's the weekend before Thanksgiving. Even if my bench press sucks due to the injury, I can still have a good deadlift and squat. I'll post another pic of the bruise next week.
