Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Went in this morning for back/rear shoulder/tri. Left after 30 minutes. On my second set of deads, right after warming up with 95lbs., I was using 145 lbs. As I went to pull up - I heard and felt a little pop on my right abdomen, right under the floating rib about 3-4 inches from my center. Not terribly painful, but there was no way this was a good sign. I figured it was probably a pulled muscle - right side is stomach not intestines, so it wasn't gas being forces through my intestines. Hurts, but not much, when I take a deep breath or flex the muscles, like when I use the bathroom for #2. I'm hoping this is a minor deal but I'm taking a few days off nonetheless. Sigh. Guess I need more warm up sets and more focus on abs, lower back and all the other support muscles I'm not hitting directly. I'll know tomorrow morning better the full extent of this. If it doesn't feel terrible I'll give it time to heal up on it's own. If it gets worse or is terribly painful, guess I'll make an appt. with the doc.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 26 | Hi Johnny. I didn't have time to read all of your log, but I will. The first thing I noticed is that you practically don't eat any whole foods. You can't live on supps alone. You should only use shakes and supps to supplement your diet. You should get most of your calories from whole foods such as cruciferous veggies, whole grains, clean proteins, fruits and good fats. Good job on your log though, it seems very well done! ![]() |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Hi, thanks for the comments. I've been meaning to take more solid foods in with me when I go into work... actually started taking a can of tuna in with me and eating it between lunch and shakes. I'll try and do more cooking at home. Thanks for the feedback... quick Q: Oats turned into dust in the blender: Solid food or a shake? Second, what is better about solid foods over liquids? Absorption time? Thx, JUSA

| Soldier In Progress | Well solid foods are just that, food. Supplements are meant to supplement lacking areas of your diet and not make up for diet. I'd suggest reading the Nutrition forum and Diab0lics nutrient post to figure out why more whole foods are vital.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Cooked lunch today, plans are to have powedered synth food.. * when I wake up * right before work out * right after work out * between breakfast and lunch * beteen lunch and dinner Will eat solid foods for Breakfast, between breakfast and lunch, lunch, dinner and before bed. I'll go consult the nutrition sections for more info here though. Thanks for the tips so far! My injury from yesterday is.. thankfully... feeling much better. I suspect by tomorrow it will feel normal. Going to take this warning from my body as a sign to slow down a bit. Will skip workouts until Monday. Ran this morning. Felt good but I'm basically back to square one as far as my cardiovascular system is concerned. Managed to get 30 minutes, most of it was spent walking on an incline. Ran for a little bit but heart rate jumped to ~170 so I pulled back. Will just have to take this slow like everything else.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Weight this morning: 187.5. I worked out this morning for the first time since last Thursday when I had my little mishap with my right upper ab. (And, that workout was cut short... it's been like a week since I've had a decent workout!). Since Thursday, I've been doing more and more cardio. I own a pawn shop and I bought a treadmill the other day. I decided to take it home to "test" it for awhile and I've been running a littlle bit every day. Not so much running as walking during TV shows at 3mph and during commercial breaks upping it to 6mph. Friday I did it for 30 mins, then pooped out. Saturday I did it for another 30 and Sunday I did it for 45. My goal is to hit an hour of it. Speaking of the ab injury, it's feeling much better. It hurts now only if I put my finger UNDER my rib and push around. No problems when I breath or cough. Still, I will (sadly) skip deads this Friday and do other exercises. I've changed my program. Nothing serious: Moved tricep with chest (done today) and bicep with back (fridays). I may do some pull ups tonight at home and on friday do some dips and ab work at home... so I changed up my program. When my abs feel better, I'll do ab work on Mons at home at night, too. Today was Chest, Tri, Shoulder. Pretty good workout. My right shoudler was feeling a bit stiff so I stuck with dumbells and high reps. While my weight hasn't increased much - the scale is now consistently saying my FB% has dropped to 21%. Because it's been doing it now for 3 days in a row, I'm guessing it has dropped. I feel slimmer but it's hard to tell.

Oats at the end... hmm. I'll try it tomorrow. I don't mind the sawdust effect and since I toss in fiber which needs to be ground to dust anyway... but, I'll give it a go. Onto workouts.. nothing this morning. Chest is nice and sore today and to a lesser degree so are my traps and delts. I had a very traumatic situation hit me yesterday mid-day and I was in a bad way the rest of the day. Today even I feel very depressed and tired. Yesterday diet was off... skipped dinner and pre-bed meal, I couldn't eat. Weight this morning was way down: 185.5 and for the first time in a few days the scale registered my fb% at 22 again. I'm concerned but not overly worried... it's not humanly possibly to legitimately lose 1.5 pounds in a day - even if I ran all day and starved myself. I suspect it's water weight. Tomorrow: Legs!

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Yesterday was a pretty awful workout. Didn't get up in time in the morning to go in so I went after work. (Yes was legs, btw). Went to do squats. Warmup set of 95, went down and my previously injured ab which hadn't given me any problems flared a bit. Not wanting to push it, I skipped squats... went to leg press and did around 8 sets of 10-14 ea. That took about 30 minutes, and I went to do some lunges and just felt like shit. Went home and continued to feel like shit for about an hour. I'm thinking of going back in on Saturday and re-doing legs (although they are slightly sore today). I'm disappointed my injury is still a potential concern but I figure I'm lucky that it isn't any worse. I quit tobacco last Monday night. I'd talked about it before but I didn't get very far. It's pretty tough but it hasn't hurt my sleep paterns too much. I drank a ton of cranberry juice yesterday to help recover, otherwise my diet was normal. This time I'm committed to staying off, but it is rather difficult. (I think I read only 5% of people who quit cold turkey succeed... ouch). Weight this morning: 188. 21% FB%.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Skipped back,bi,shld yesterday... was going to get it after work but I just didn't feel like it. So, I did them today. Not a bad workout.. I actually did a few deads.. using very light weight and only 3 sets. I took it very easy but I didn't have any problems, either... beforehand I really stretched my abs. No idea if it helped or not but I'll probably end up doing it before deads everytime from now on anyway. Took a scoop of no-xplode this morning. No problems. Weight was down a bit this morning... prob water weight, I skipped pre-bed meal last night. Weight this morn: 187.5

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | I switched my schedule to a 4 day split, starting this week. I was just missing too much, often having to skip or go light on certain muscles due to time. Mon: Chest, Shld Tue: Abs, Card Wed: Legs Thur: Tri, Bi, Fore Friday: Abs, Card Sat: Back, Fore Sun: OFF Yesterday was chest, shld. My stomach felt like crap all day yesterday and just got worse and worse. It actually cut into my workout it was so bad... I also just felt bloated as shit all day long, again getting worse and worse. I got a nice workout for my chest but shoulder was cut a little short. Not a great start to this new program - at least it wasn't a time constraint, though. Stomach continues to feel crappy today, but I'll do what I can to eat well. Weight dropped this morning, likely due to the probs from yesterday. This morning's weight: 188.5

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Today was legs. Oof! I did something weird that I wanted to do last week.. I did squats, lots of them. 95x10 (wu) 95x10 (wu) 115x10 (more wu) 115x10 (more wu) 135x10 135x10 155x8 95x18 (was shooting for 20 but my lower back was yelping) .. It seemed like a lot of warm up sets (and it was) but I probably needed them and each set made my heart-rate skyrocket. Hit some leg presses afterwards, seated on a machine. 3 sets. Did 3 sets of a machine which basically mimicked lunges. Thing I'll stick to doing them sans machine next time. Moved onto lying and seated ham pulls. 3 sets w/ ea. Skipped calves... was pooped. Might hit them Friday w/ abs b4 my cardio. Chest is still pretty sore. I may have to inquire... seems like it's sore for days after every workout. I know I'm getting older... but shouldn't it be easing up already? Tomorrow might be problematic.. have a vet appointment for my 2 cats at 8. Won't be able to get the workout in that morning. I'll try to go tomorrow night but I generally hate it. It's always pretty packed. I don't want to move it back to Friday, though... although I need to get used to life getting in the way of workouts and adapting. Had a discussion with my finace' the other day about cooking, which she usually does. She gets pretty upset when I ask for no sat fats and stuff... I basically told her that when I'm cutting I will cook for myself, thank you. Today she cooked me some egg whites w/ potatoes (my usual) but threw in some "choriso" for flavor. I checked the label and it's like 250 cals a serving, 95% saturated fat. I ate it this time but told her that was not on my diet. She complained and said I was over-reacting and taking things too far... I ****ing hate it when she does that. (didn't even taste that good, to be honest... it's OK and all but you'd think pure fat would be heavenly or something). Weight this morning: Back to 190.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Did Tri, Bi, 4arm last night. Felt good, arms get very pumped, obviously. Tomorrow: Back, 4arm. I went pretty easy on the forearms yesterday, where my tris and bis are slightly tender my fores don't feel noticibly tornup. I'll go nuts on them tomorrow if I got juice left in the tank after back. I look forward to deads, I'll continue my trend of doing the major lift over and over and over that I've been doing this week with bench and squats. I'll hit them till my lower back forces me to pull back. Hopefully within 3-4 months they will be strong enough to let me hit my back more. Weight this morning: 191.5

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Has it been 50 days already? Time certainly flies... did back today. Threw in some stuff to hit the rear head of my delt and a little forearm work after. I would have hit my forearms a bit more but time forced me out. I was a bit disappointed with my deadlifts today (at least I didn't hurt myself, though). My lower back was really screeching the whole time, I felt like I could have done much more weight if it wasn't for it. For the record, I ended my sets using a plate on each side for 8 reps. Weight this morning: 192, I think.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Was out of work yesterday, felt sick and stayed home. I hate doing that, but my body just felt like lead... was really weird, I had zero energy. Didn't feel bad, so much as just not having any energy... wasn't even like I was exhausted... just empty. Real quick.. got a lot of work to catch up on... Sunday I did Chest/Shld. My gym was closed Monday for Mem. Day and I got that workout in early b/c I wouldn't get it in on Monday. Tuesday I went in for Tris/Bis/Fore... got mostly done with tris but it was a lousy workout... again, I had zero energy/motivation. This morning I almost slept in but I went in for legs. Decent workout, lower back was a little stiff for squats. Weight this morning: 193

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | I'd worked out last Friday, did back. Not sure why I didn't make a log of it here.. ah well. Got a new pic.. me 10 lbs heavier than my last one. Oddly, looking at both... I don't really look any different. Also, while I'm clearly not in superb shape or anything.. I don't think the pic does justice. Motivation is very low. I think I'm going to take a week off. It's been close to eight weeks straight and while I wanted to hold out to 10 weeks before I took a week off I think for awhile now my body's been aching. Current weight is ~195 lbs. I've also decided this week to start easing back on caloric intake. I've decided it won't matter how much muscle I pack on, I'm going to look like shit so long as I am carrying so much extra baggage. While I'm probably not musclar enough yet by a long shot, I'm going to cut for a few months or until I feel more satisfied how I look. My goal: Drop to 170-180 lbs, losing mostly fat weight. Ideally, this will bring my fat body weight percentage closer to 10-12%. This will take some time (and dedication) - but when it's over I can bulk anew and try and get back to 190-200 lbs (this time with a decent % of muscle-to-fat).

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Here's the new pic... looking at it next to my old one, I see little difference. I'm also upset my fiance' didn't get my legs in the shot.. while it might not have shown up very noticably in the pic, they do feel larger to me (then again, I thought my pecs, arms and back had grown some too...) Stats in this pic: ~194 lbs. ~22 FB%

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | My goal was to begin working out again this Monday. That didn't quite happen - around last Weds I started having an acute pain in my mid back. A few days and one trip to the ER later - turns out it was kidney stones! Ouch! I've been feeling better since Sunday (think most of them passed by then) but not quite 100%. Hrmf, well I guess my week off was meant to be, I'd have been taking the time off anyway with those damn stones. Hopefully I'll be better soon, I feel vastly better but there is still some lingering pain back there. Will keep this journal updated..

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Finally got back to the gym after taking a week off, getting kidney stones and otherwise f'king around. Did Chest/Shld/Tri today. Muscular endurance was down, strength had dropped (but not as badly as I feared). I expect a few weeks build back to get back in the run of things. Hopefully with me trying to cut I'll be able to handle the workload. Will play it by ear. Restarted the day counter, back to 1.
