Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | I am keeping this at bb.com and here. I feel like I will probably get more support here, and this board has more of a community feel. hope you guys enjoy. i have been bulking for about 3 jillion years. okay, fine it hasn't been that long. but it seems like a while (realisticly, I have been trying to gain weight for 5 years, with limited success. I started at ~130-135 lbs). Over the past 6-8 months, I managed to gain somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 lbs. It was like newb. gains all over again...sorta. anyway, after all of that, I was left at 185 lbs, at about 17% body fat. I entered kind of a recomposition phase at the beginning of the year, and I am now 180 lbs, 12% body fat. On monday, I started the dreaded low-carb diet. It is now apparent that I should keep a log to stay encouraged. I feel incredibly weak right now, and it is truly humbling to eat, and still be hungry. Protein intake is still very high in order to minimize muscle loss. This will not be a detailed workout log. I will do more in the neighborhood of logging how I feel on a daily or EOD basis, as well as logging body weight, and body fat % each week. Hopefully this will be encouraging to others, and I also hope to gain a little encouragement from those who follow this log. Thanks a lot guys.... man this is gonna suck, lol. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | i can't believe this is so tough. i have cut briefly before, but I have never done the low-carb diet before. I can't believe how crappy I feel. Anyone else experience this? Is it normal? I feel sick to my stomach, im tired, im weak. when I eat, i finish my meal and im just as hungry as i was when i started. I end up with a "full" feeling, like i can't possibly eat more, but my stomach growls, and I feel as if I am starving to death. I can't see how in the hell this can possibly be good for you. but if it helps me cut body fat fast, i guess it is worth it. I will NEVER complain about how hard it is to GAIN weight again. Cutting fat has proven to be much more difficult thus far... and this is only day 5. |

low carb definatly sucks.. I am not a fan of it at all... I eat all of the same things I normaly eat just less of them.. I keep my protein intake the same, and I cut back on carbs, but I eat some with every meal.... the other reason I do not like to cut out almost all carbs is you seem to get a rebound effect once you go back to eating them....

Is 100 grams of carbs a day low? Is 50 grams considered low? I'm pretty much like you bubba, except if I was going to do another bb show. I'll tell ya that I was actually shredded for my one and only bb comp and the only way I could get there was with cardio 2x per day and nuthin but veggies for my carbs and I was probably only eating 50 grams or less a day. I got down to 200 lbs. No starchy carbs at all.

Yeah MyTMouse should tell us how few carbs he is getting so we can say if we experienced the same thing... when I did low carb I was keeping carbs at or under 30 grams a day.. most of what I ate was proteins, good fats, and green veggies... I felt like death after the 3rd or 4th day, but I stayed on the diet for a month... I lost bodyfat, but gained it back quick when I reintroduced carbs into my diet.. what works best for me is like I said.. everything I normaly eat just smaller portions, and I add cardio twice a day.. morning, and night...

"my finger won't stop bleeding... anyone know why?" "did you do anything to make it bleed?" "well now that ya mention it, i did drop a chainsaw on it the other day you think that might have something to do with it?" I haven't been thinking clearly at all since I started this whole thing. To answer your question, I am eating lean beef, chicken breasts, bacon, celery, lettuce, sunflower kernels, whey protein, OCCASIONALLY a few pork skins for a snack (i had 2 "servings" this week, 9 skins each), and a few peanuts here and there. I eat simple carbs right after I work out. 2 small packs of smarties, OR 1/4 cup of skittles. washed down with 1 cup of gatorade. Those are my simple carbs. Not counting post-workout simple carbs (within 15 mins of ending workout), I have been eating under 20 grams of carbs per day. The lowest day I have had so far was 10 carbs, and the highest has been 18 carbs. My calories are about 250 cals under maintenance, which has resulted in good fat loss for me in the past (I have done short cuts before, but nothing this serious). hopefully this is helpful. oh, almost forgot. we all know hydration is key. water intake tops 2 gallons a day usually (vast majority of the time). I never get under 1 gallon per day.

I've been cutting since 12/3/05 and started logging everthing since 1/10/06. I would recommend an eating plan like mine is at this moment. So go check it out. I've been losing about 2 lbs per week and I feel pretty good still.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | weighed in today at 174lbs, 11.5% body fat. I am losing some muscle mass, no doubt. I have a little bit of a cold going on, so I'm sure that is contributing a bit. I am trying to stay hydrated, and I am using Cre-Ethyl Thunder right now. I am trying to keep the protein intake high (close to 300 grams per day between food and shakes). The body fat is coming down, so I'm happy about that, but im not happy about losses in lean body mass. last weeks LBM: 158.4lbs this weeks LBM: 154 lbs which actually means I lost more lean body mass than I lost fat, if my calculations are correct. I guess the best thing I can do is just stick with it. thanks for readin' guys.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | definately sick. I am thinking now that perhaps the drastic drop in strength and the feeling of weakness throughout the day really had nothing to do with the change in diet. Rather, I just started getting sick at about the same time. I am going to keep lifting, but will be taking it easy.
