Default Master Of Puppets: Metal to Iron


Hey I've been on these forums a while now, and figured I might as well start a workout log. i need to anyway for the IMPC Contest. Well, it's an off day for me, so i won't be posting my lifts right now. A tiny bit of background: i started lifting in about 6th grade, not having a clue what I was doing. I never worked lower body or back, just bis, tris, and chest. At that time, I weighed 112, at 5'6 or 5'7. I did gain a little weight, but it was just luck. i started seriously lifting this year at 124 pounds. Since then I have gained around 20 pounds or so, making my current weight about 144. I hope to get to at least 160 by September, when football starts. i'll be a freshman, and a first year football player. I listen to lots of heavy metal and hard rock music, almost every spare moment I get, I'm listening to music and eating. So far, i love weight lifting and hope to keep doing it until i am 60 or 70 years old. i'll post again tomorrow.

ROOOOAAARRR!!! I couldn't work out today because of a baseball game, and lots of homework... darn it... i think i'll just do it tomoorow, even though i have practice... not a good time to start a workout log. I'm too busy. i've got a project on wednesday, baseball practice thursday, and lots of homework.

today I had to do a double workout due to me missing out yesterday...
bench press: 70+ whatever the bar weighs x 6x 4
i tried decline db flies, but it felt too akward. maybe next time...
incline bench press: 50+ the bar x 7 x 3
tricep extensions: 30x8x3 supersetted w/ pushups.
close grip bench press: same weight as incline, 6x 3
bb curls: 40x 6x 3
i would've done hammer curls, but i had to go to baseball practice. well, tomorrow's back day.

Double workout? lol wouldn't suggest doing those every day haha. Bar weighs 45 lbs. (assuming it's olympic )

my bar is not olympic size, so i'm not sure how much it weighs. i'll get measurements on it soon. i gotta do another double workout tomorrow, which may not be good, but i'm gonna do it anyways. i had to work on a project for my Spanish class today.

I did a short, heavy workout, my favorite!
deadlifts: 1 set of 10 reps w/ 50 pounds as a warmup, then 1 set of 70 pounds, 8 reps, then 2 sets of 90 pounds, 6 reps. I don't know how much my bar weighs, as it is not olympic, so i did not add the weight of the bar in there.

bent over rows: 15 in each hand, 6 reps, 3 sets.

after lifting heavier than normal, boy am i tired! well, if it doesn't kill ya, it'll make ya stronger!

I did a pretty low volume workout as I had to move furniture a lot today, but I still got the workout in.

Leg extensions: 3 sets, pyramiding: 50x12 reps, 70x8, 80x6
Hack squats: 4 sets, pyramiding: 50x12, 80x6, 100x4

Notice the low rep amount on the last set. I felt like doing that today, but I'll try to stay above 5 reps in the future. Let me tell you, that was a hard last rep! I actually yelled! I know it's not much weight at all for some people, but that sure got me! (keep in mind, I still don't know what the weight of the bar is, so i didn't add it in, just the weights I put on the bar. )

I am going on a three day split starting this monday:

Mon.-Chest/Bis/Forearms
Wed.-Legs/Abs
Fri.-Back/Shoulders/Tris

I'm going to switch my routine to 5x5 training, and my split was based on what days I have baseball, and what days I don't. I've heard many great things about 5x5 training, and I hope that I reap results from it.

Well, my first 5x5 workout exhausted me. I was surprised by how low volume it's supposed to be, but boy, am I tired.

Bench press: 5x5 with 40 on each side. I tried my first set with 45 on each side, and the bar got stuck on my chest going down for the fourth rep... I gotta leave my ego at the door... I just brought it down by ten pounds (five on each side) and started all over.

Hammer curls: 5x5x20- My forearms are sore... That's a good sign.

Comments: Workout sucked. Bench sucked, couldn't lift as much. Had to push myself very hard to lift less weight than normal... Perhaps it's the heat...
