Default EME's 2006 Log - The Road to Big, Ripped, and Shredded

As many of you know, in Dec. 2005 I suffered a major tear of my left pec, requiring surgery to repair and reattach it. For the past four months I have been in recovery and rehab.

The details of my injury and recovery process can be found in this log:
EME's Pec Tear Recovery Log

Now, the time has come to put the recovery log away.

I am not 100% healed yet, and won't be for many more months, but I am now to the point that I can train every bodypart and it's time to get this show on the road.

The mission is now to get BIG, RIPPED, and SHREDDED!

Not only will I get Bigger, Harder, and Stronger than I was before my injury, but I will do it without the use of any androgens ( legal or otherwise ).

This thread will document my journey from my current state, to my return to the bodybuilding stage in 2007, and beyond.

So, to get things started, here's where I am now.

The pictures below were taken today ( 4/08/06 )

These pics will serve as the starting point, and I will post progress pics, stats, and updates as I progress.

As of today, I have not done any barbell exercise or even a push-up in 4 months.
I have been training on the Life Fitness machines for about 4 weeks.
I started back with light dumbbells for shoulders ( 10 lbs ) and the cable crossover for chest about 1 week ago.

I have lost a lot of size in my chest, delts, and arms from the injury and atrophy, but that's about to change!

04/08/06

Current Weight: 178 lbs

Bring It!!!!! The time has come to get BIG again.....

Let the new log begin!

Thanks Viperspit!

Yep, that's the plan.

I'll be taking pics every month too.
I hope to be back taking them in the gym like I was doing in my Mass Building Log last Fall.

Pictures really help you see your progress. Sometimes when you see yourself in the mirror everyday, you don't really realize how much progress you're actually making.

Thanks for checking in!

You've got me tempted to cut half of my wardrobe including ironmass t-shirt into wife beaters

You're already big ripped and shredded, the V taper in your lat spread is crazy! Not to mention your crazy vascularity, especially on your left arm and shoulder. It's funny how vascularity is different on each side, for me it's my right side :p But no hijacking from me

How slow are you going to have to work up your dumbell lifts? It must be horrifying to use 10lb dumbells in public lol. I remember one time I did a drop set and was struggling to curl the 10lb barbell, I felt like possibley the biggest idiot when I grunted and 5 people looked at me like I was nuts. :boink:

Thanks Skel.

It's going to take a while to work up on the dumbbells. I'm just going to see how it goes and listen to my body.

I honestly don't mind using the 10's. It's a step up from not being able to do the dumbbells at all. Everyone at my gym that I care about knows the situation, and anyone who doesn't can surely see the fresh scar on my shoulder and realize something is up.

I quit worrying about the weight I was using after about my second workout back in the gym. The first one back I felt pretty bad about it, but then I realized this was the only way to get back to where I was before.. and I just quit worrying about it.

Honestly, I do feel pretty good about my condition considering that I haven't done any major training for 4 months, even if I do have to use the 10 pounders...

Thanks for the encouragement Skel!

absolutely bro! I want to see you reach your goals! I'm just glad you're able to lift again. You would have been destroyed on the inside if it permanently kept you from competing and training.

I think it's great that you have supportive people at your gym. I've been at my gym almost two years and no one even really talks to eachother unless it's one of the little chatty cliques. Maybe I should be thankful. There's only one guy at my gym that I know is competitive, and I've seen a couple who look like they might be.

When you train people do you work for your gym? Or do you freelance and just pay the one day admission for whatever gym your client wants to go to? Personal training seems to be the big money maker at the gym I go to.
