By the end of the year I should be pretty close hopefully, and be ready to back on stage next year.I'm still around.... I still check in every day and keep an eye on things, I'm just crazy busy these days. I'll send you a PM when a get a few minutes and let you know what's been going on. Thanks again DF! - EME Quote:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | Hey Everyone, Today was a major milestone in my pec tear recovery. 97 Muscle came over to our gym to train with me today. I was feeling good so I decided to very carefully test what I could do on bench since I had a reliable spotter. Until today, I had not gone above 145 on bench press since my tear last December. I have only been back in the gym for 10 weeks now, so I have been taking my weights up very slowly on my chest exercises. When I first returned to the weight room, I was doing only the 45 lb bar, and I was shaking while doing it. I started off with my normal 135 lbs and did 10 easy reps. So I went 145 and did more very easily. Since 97 was with me, I decided to increase the weight by 10 lbs per set, and see how it felt. If I felt the tendon get tight, or pull at all, I would stop my rep immediately. So I took the weight up to 155 and got 10 reps easily. 165, 10 easily. At this point I decided to sets of 5 and continue on, so I wasn't pushing too hard. 175, 5 easily. 185, 5 easily 195, 4 easily.. and could have gotten 5... but there was just a tiny bit of pressure. Since the weight still felt really light, I decided to do 1 rep sets, with 97 watching very closely for any sign of a problem to grab the weight if necessary. 205, 1 rep easily. 215, 1 rep easily..... AND......... 225, 1 rep SUPER EASILY.... nothing too it. I seriously barely even felt the weight. - Understood, that isn't that much weight under normal circumstances.. but considering that I could barely do just the bar for reps in June.... I was ecstatic at the progress!! I didn't think I'd be pressing 225 again until December! Now that I have a feel for what my body can handle... I'm going to drop back down to my light work sets and continue to progress slowly. I'm not going to suddenly jump up to training with 200 + now.. but it's nice to know that my body is capable of it again.... and quite easily actually. Also.... I followed up my 225 bench with Dumbbell Presses for the first time since the tear. I decided to do it right and I went over to the exact bench where it tore... and laid down and started pressing. I guess I needed to go over and give it punch back in my own way. The Dumbbell presses felt great, and I had no problems at all with them. Oh... I almost forgot....... we took the video camera to the gym to video Kendra's posing practice today, so 97 shot some video of me at the end of my workout. | IronMass Donator | I completely understand. Good job on the speedy recovery, I was pretty sure you'd recover quickly, but the extent of your recovery probably wasn't in the scope of what anybody thought was possible. Keep on fighting the good fight man. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 129 | Wow, great news on the bench strength! I'm also glad to hear that your ego isn't overcoming your senses and that even though you know your body is capable of 200+ pressing, you're still going to work at a reasonable pace. Not that I expected your ego to overtake you, but for most people I would. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | Nothing too major to report. Still moving along well. Weight is up about 21 lbs since starting training again 12 weeks ago. The next several weeks are going to be extremely busy so I'm focusing on maintaing for 3-4 weeks then hitting it hard beginning in mid October. I'll have more to update then. Thanks for checking! - EME Quote:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | Hey Everyone, Happy Halloween! Sorry for the long time between posts. Things have been crazy busy lately. But, I have been staying with my recovery and training. It's now been almost 11 months since my full pec tear and surgery, and 5 months since I've been allowed back in the weight room. I am now up 30 lbs in 20 weeks since hitting the weights again. Here are some pictures taken tonight of me at 192 lbs. This is just 9 lbs shy of my heaviest weight ever ( which happened to be the week I tore my pec ). Arms are still lagging behind everything else in recovery. I attribute this to the fact that I can't train with anywhere near the weight I used to train with yet. A lot of my previous arm development came from secondary growth from my powerlifting training. The reduction in my current training weights just isn't pushing my arms yet. But, they will come around. As you can see from the bottom picture, everything else is filling back out nicely, and I'm very pleased with the job my surgeon did. I really can't tell much, if any, difference between the torn pec and the non-injured side. 8 lbs to go to hit 200! ( Bring on the BAD ASS MASS! ) - Michael ![]()
