Default Worried about my left side slacking

Hi guys, im new here just joined.

my right arm seems to do more work during while im at the gym, its stronger and even a little bigger (not really noticable), even when im doing dips or bicep curls with an easy bar the right arm seems to be doing more even when i purposly try harder with the left to compensate.

i thought i should try to fix this problem sooner before the summer when ill be working more often (dont want to end up with a weak arm and a strong one )

does anyone have any advice for me?

-Richard

Dumbell work, keeping reps consistent on each side.

It's important to remember that EVERYONE'S body is slightly lopsided like this and that no person is truly symmetrical in terms of a mirror image. My left arm used to be a LOT bigger than my right arm being stronger. I have been working with dumbells for almost three years and the size gap is starting to narrow a lot. They used to be over 1/2" difference, now they are ~ 1/4" difference. In fact, the whole left side of my body is slightly larger and holds more fat. It's just part of genetics.

I doubt you'll fix it by the summer. It will take years. How long have you been lifting?

Well, i used to go to the gym casually and about 8 weeks ago i had a chat with one of the instructers (who was in mens health :O) and he set me up a 6week plan which ends next monday when i go talk to him again, ive been sticking to a high protein diet throughout.

i dont have dumbells on my workout at all at the minute, just the easybar curls for biceps.

would just doing some reps just on the left side even it out, or should i just try concentrate on putting more effort in that site?

im 6ft 3 175lbs btw

edit:

The majority of your weight lifting can be done with dumbells, and keep reps consistent on each side! Start with your week arm, then do the same amount of reps with your strong arm.
