Default working through wrist pain

got severe wrist pain in my left arm from squatting (supporting a lot of weight low on my back) and from doing heavy oly-barbell curls.

any tips on working through this? I got a set of wrist wraps but they dont seem to help much. Id rather not give up curling, I can do cable curls okay without much pain.

Im going to skip squatting today and just do machines b/c of the wrist pain.

Would taking a painkiller like ibuprofen help? Any suggestions?

I have a bad right wrist from scooping ice cream all day and some days I can't even pick up a barbell and other days its fine.

I've tried painkillers but they don't do much for me anyway.

I have the same problem (tendinitus). It takes a long to to heal to heal because I keep re-injuring my wrist. I wear an elastic wrap (You can buy a wrist wrap at the pharmacy.) when I am likely to injure it. (Curls or deadlifts)

I use the EzCurl bar or use dumbbells or cables for curls. A hammer grip curl is easiest on the wrist. For deads, I use an overhanded grip on both hands. I am upping the fish oil and using Cissius. Anything thing that will reduce inflamation should be good for your wrist.

Working through the pain is not a good idea. I did that once with tendonitus in the elbow and it took forever to heal. (At least 6 months.)

I'm starting to get my knee coming back, so its good that bowling is ending because that of all things is the problem!

I tell ya though, holding the bar racked on the shoulders from the clean is a good way to stretch the wrist/forearms out.

True about the stretching but sometimes after scooping for 9 hours straight I can hardly move my wrists.

Any remedies or ancient herbs?

lol

Read this thread about wrists
http://www.ironmass.com/exercises/59...-impaired.html

The first thing you want to do is fix whatever you're doing wrong with your wrists. If you don't fix the source of the problem, it's only going to get worse, especially if you try to work through it.

I would lay off things that bother your wrist for 7-10 days and ice it, massage it, just try to make it feel better. When you start using it again, make sure you pay attention to them and understand that they are a weak link. When you're curling, don't think "how much can my biceps handle?", think "how much can my wrists handle?" You gotta cater to yourself. Lock those wrists!

p.s.- my bet is that it's the BB curls with poor wrist form that caused this problem. When you're squatting, it probably just exacerbates the situation when you try to support the bar with a bum wrist, but the source is probably the curls.

yeah, usually, especially with an issue like this, its more so something that just pushes the tendon or ligaments over the edge and not the actualy thing that is hurting it the most.
