Default Who here pyramids the weights?

Right now I'm doing pyramiding like 15-12-10-8, adding weight each set. I'm doing this because everyone says that its better, but do any of you guys/gals here have articles or studies saying which one is better. Because if you look at this, you can see that you used mroe force WITHOUT pyramiding.

Example 1-
250x10
250x9
250x8
250x6

Example 2-
250x10
260x8
270x6
280x4

For example 1, I used 8250 lbs of force. example 2, I used 7320. So wouldn't not pyramiding the weights be better?

I used to pyramid, but I've had better success just working with my heaviest weight from the beginning. For example, on incline dumbell press, after a warmup set I use a weight that is my 8 rep max and generally by the last set I can get 6 reps. Once I can reach 8 reps on my last set I up the weight the next time.

yeh, thats what im thinking of starting to do, because at the end, I end up in total lifting more than if I were to pyramid.

I want to know if one is superior and theres been studies of it??

I dont pyramid either.. I have actually never even tried it.. I just work my heaviest weight throughout.. and then in a couple of weeksor so.. I move my amount up 10 pounds or so.. and start again... it just works better for me... I dont know how that would work for anyone else..

because if i dont pyramid, i usually wait 1-1.5 minutes between sets but if i pyramid i wait 3-4 minutes. and i heard less time promotes growth hormones. if I multiple weight x reps and get that total for each set, and compare it to pyramiding, would that mean anything?

When I first started working out, I used pyramids, but now I have found that there are much more efficient ways to work out. Aren't you doing WS4SB? If so, you shouldn't be pyramiding....

Yeh, Im doing WS4SB. If its something like 6-10 reps I go
Set 1-10
Set 2-8
Set 3-6
Set 4-6

I add weight each set except Set 4. But I dont know if I should do that or use 1 heavy set and when I get 4x10 I add the weight.

I would recommend using a weight that youthink you can hit between 8-10 on. If you hit 10 and still have something left in th etank, then go up next session. If not, keep the weight...

yeh, but the program says 4 sets 6-10. and in 4 sets without adding weight i can get 10,10,10,10 for my goal. so why shouldnt i do 10-8-6-6 and add weight each set with 10-8-6-6 being the goal?

If you can hit 10, 10, 10, 10 then I would add weight the next session and see how it goes.

I generally do 12,10,8,6,6,6 for the first exercise of a body part, then just 3 sets of 6-8 for the next exercises.
