Default Where does everybody train?

I was just curious where everyone trains in comparison to HOW they train.

For example, I myself train for strength and power, and have a membership at LA Fitness, which is by no means a powerlifting gym. It's more of a health spa to be honest. Everyone does bench, bench, curl, the occasional leg extension, and then some more benching. They have good equipment though, so that's why I keep going back

The looks I get when I do BB rows, powercleans, and even box or ATG squats ("Below parallel?!?! WTF?!?!?! lol) are always priceless.

i train at LA Fitness as well...its crowded, cramped, but very cheap. Some big dudes in there, so always someone to keep chasing.

Basement.... The basement is finished no it's not like a dungeon, but I have a decent amount of equipment... power rack, bench, smyth machine, lat pulldown, tons of weights, bars etc... tread mill, stationary bike...

I alternate my routine from strength building, to hypertrophy training.. that way I build up strength, then put the new strength to work in the hypertrophy routine..

I train at the PowerHall @ the FDU Madison Recreation Center. It has 9 platforms, 8 mens Eleiko bars, 5 womans Eleiko bars (just got a new one two days ago), and tons of bumper plates. We also got 3 GHR and 1 Reverse Hyper. 3 Olympic Coachs, 2 Former Olympians.

great place to train, even if your not into OL. We got many PL guys who train at the gym.

Default Re: Where does everybody train?

I workout at home and enjoy the solitude with no distractions. I have a home gym set with 8 stations (Leg Press, Peck Deck, Lat Pulldown, etc.). In addition, I have two standard barbell sets, with an EZ bar, an Olympic barbell set, a 2 rack DB set and 3 benches, 1 standard and 2 adjustable, just as a matter of convenience. I also have a squat rack that doubles for squats and bench presses In addition, I have a Dip combo machine for knee raises, leg raises and oblique bends, together with dip handles for chest and tri's.

I think what I have is more than adequate for my needs. If need be, all that I would require is probably some additional plates. In the early A.M., I go down stairs put on some good music, got my prepared routine, water w/carbs, towel, chalk and I let myself go into a different world for about an hour. Working out at home has been just great for me.

IMO, a great way of periodizing

I train in our school's old football gym. It's nice because the football program USED to know how to train, so there are a ton of racks, GHRs, bands and band anchor plates. Now the PSU team trains in their state of the art hammer strength machines.

I workout at the Georgetown School gym.

Crowded, only 1 power rack 2 Benches and a bunch of machines - Dumbbells too. It gets the job done though if I go early. I just get there at 8 and the place is empty.
