Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 113 | this will get moved to the training section soon by a mod. the reason you've heard all different information is because it varies from person to person. Here are the facts: T level are higher in the morning Cortisol levels are higher in the morning Glycogen levels are lower in the morning Free flowing glucose (blood sugar) are lower in the morning Beyond those points, it's all dependent on you're schedule, how u feel during the day, and your goals. Here are my thoughts: I train in the evening when I'm trying to gain mass and strength. I do this because I am very alert, I will have eaten 2000-3000 kcals by that point, and I just feel more energetic at night. I'll train early on occasion when I'm dieting, just because it aids in fat burn a bit more. Even then though, I don't look to my training for fat loss very much. Diet will take care of 95% of that.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 309 | Like DJ said there really isn't a perfect time except what feels right to you. I'm weak and tired in the mornings but strong at night so evenings are best for me. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 3 | I currently train in the evenings as well, for the same reasons as DJ. But I have the feeling that I am going to need to switch to a morning routine because my evenings will start getting hectic and unpredictable in the near future. What are some recommendations for pre-workout nutrition for lifting in the morning? Brian |

well, i'm sure PMan will chime in after I post this, ( and I hope you do in order to give another perspective) but as far as I'm concerned, a moderate amount of sugar+BCAA+fave energy supp is the best protocal for early training. Complex carbs cause more blood to leave your extremities, and focus on your digestive track to assist in metabolic functions. Sugars, on the other hand, are easily digested, and when the amount (g) are kept to a reasonable amount (about 40-50g), the "crash" which people so often rave about is non-existent. It also helps to consume the first half of the sugar as soon as you wake up, while sipping through the rest of it as you enter the gym and train. Those are my 2cents, but a heap load of BBing tradition says otherwise. Whatever you choose to do, BCAA are going to be a MUST. No one will dispute that.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | I recall Franco Columbu saying that the early afternoon was the best time to train.... around 1 or 2 PM. I never heard actual reasoning for this but for me I have found that more often than not, it is definitely the best time. If your schedule allows, play around and find when you enjoy training the most. I train morning, afternoon, and night.... just depends on my schedule and/or how I'm feeling that day. |

| Pro Stature | I go around 6 or 7 P.M. Its when I can relax after school a bit and wind down and its also when I get off of work. I feel good at that time because not many people are there. |

| is missing heavy pulls | I like working out at night. I have more energy and usally after I lift I just want to sleep and eat. Stuart McGill says not to lift right when you wake up (he recommends waiting approximately 2 hours) due to fluid build up in the spine from sleeping |

| Pro Stature | In my opinion workout whenever you can get it done and feel good. I like lifting in the morning's because you can get it done out of the way before work and have the rest of the night to plan stuff (hang out with friends, go to grocery store etc etc) If you lift at night sometimes stuff gets in the way and you cant be consistent with it. |
