Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | I've got a couple questions about Power Racks 1) The only extra I can think of is that it is decent for squatting and that's it. For benching all you need is a bench & for deadlifting all you need is a barbell on the floor so are there any extra advantages that actually make it worth the extra money? 2) People have told me power racks are good for benching but I don't see how it's possible to bench in a power rack because the barbell would be resting on the bars shown in the picture below, so when you bring it down it won't be able to come anywhere near your chest because the bars will be in the way. ![]() HK

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 14 | You can adjust the bars so that it's kind of like having a spotter. If you can't get the weight back up, you just roll it to a point where you can get out from underneath it. (Bad explanation sorry lol.) You can also do rack pulls and the rack I have has a chinup bar.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 114 | get a rack with more than just bars. Many have pins as well. Pins are what make benching possible. You can do rack pulls in racks as well.

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | no gym should be without a powerack, even if its in a corner in the back room (best place, I can do w/e I want there). the powerrack makes just about everything possible, with even more! squats you can set the pin just below whereever you stop, bench you can do lock outs, you can do seated military press, rack pulls, rows... the things you can do are endless!

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 45 | With a rack you can go to heavy failure on any kind of squat, benchpress, military press, you name it and just drop it a few inches to where the bars are set. Prevents a lot of dieing I would normally be doing going to failure every set.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | [quote=romanaz]no gym should be without a powerack, even if its in a corner in the back room (best place, I can do w/e I want there). The Powerhouse Gym in Batavia, NY does not have a power rack. I walked in and said "I want to join". I never inspected the gym for equipment. I could clearly see that they had some nice Hammer Machines. I filled out the paperwork and paid for my membership in full. During my first workout I asked the receptionist where the power rack was and she didnt have a clue what I was talking about. I met the owner a couple of days later and he said he didnt need a power rack because he had a squat rack. He said if I wanted a power rack to go join the YMCA. They refunded my money minus a $10.00 fee for one days use of his gym. Who would have figured. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 44 | I'm confused I think. isn't a squat rack and power rack the same thing? I mean our squat rack is that same thing just without the pulley accessories. If a power rack is just a squat rack with added cable pullies then I agree. You can do without one.
