Default weight vs reps

I have a question about whether I did more work on one particular session with different weight and reps

Incline dumbell
15x30 warmup
12x50
7x55
6x55

Next week I did
15x30 warmup
12x45
10x50
7x55

Now taking the two which one was the most effective? The first one I started heavier but did less reps. The second one I progressively went heavier and got more reps.

add them up and I did a total of 1765lbs for the first one and then a total of 1875lbs for the one on the following week. Does this mean I did more on the second one?

It all depends... I know some days I do lighter work, and some days I do heavier work, but it is how good of a pump I got in the gym that tells me if it worked or not. There are bodybuilders like Ronnie Coleman that goes for sheer weight lifted, and there were also bodybuilders like Vince Taylor who didn't really care about how many pounds, he cared about the pump... Each one is ranked 1 and 2 in pro wins... it is all up to what works for you. But it is good to experiment...
