Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | a few suggestions 1. Teach yourself to be ambidextrous. If you're right-handed, write a paragraph or two everyday with your left hand. Write slowly and make sure you're writing on the line. You will notice drastic improvement in a short amount of time, and eventually you'll be able to write equally well with both hands. This will teach your brain to be functional with both sides of your body, and not only will it help you with your mind-body coordination, but it will improve your overall efficiency with life. *note* some people think it's crazy to teach yourself this, but it's entirely possible. If you were to lose your dominant arm in an accident, you would be forced to learn how to write, etc. with your weaker hand. Why not just teach yourself now and have two dominant hands? 2. Have a specific purpose for each movement. Know why you are doing what you are doing, have a reason for it. Flailing about aimlessly is pointless, and can also be viewed as an analogy to your life in general. If you don't know the exact reason as to why you're doing something, then why are you doing it? Think about it... 3. SLOW DOWN!!! If you're are practicing agility and coordination in your room, do it very slowly. This relates back to #3... know why you are performing each move and do it slowly to ensure proper mental focus. As you become familiar with your moves you will learn start to be able to perform them subconciously, thus achieving your goal of "coordination", as in you will be able to gracefully execute your movements while performing your daily tasks. what moves you ask? I really, really recommend picking up this book http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/006...Fencoding=UTF8 pretty cheap used and highly informative. This book really teaches you to bring a mental and physical balance in your life that is hard to teach yourself. Here's a little tidbit about the book. Quote:
----this next suggestion can help but the previous 4 are the most important, IMO---- 5. Learn to dance... if you know how to make your body move the way you want it to and at the speed you want it to, this will do you wonders. Learn an instrument. Logistics of this are similar to dance, however musical instruments also stimulate your brain in a very unique, very beneficial way. These are all just suggestions off of the top of my head and things that have worked for me in the past. I didn't realize the post was going to be this long when I started but hopefully I helped and you learned something new. Will these help with sports? Probably... these will help with life in general which I think is more important. Good luck bigD, follow my advice and you will reach your goals! | |
