Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 221 | I'm working on putting together a Powerpoint presentation on powerlifting and Olympic lifting to give poker players a basic understanding of training methods and how they differ from bodybuilding. Since some of you have been training for pure strength for quite a while I'd like to hear what you consider the most basic tenets of your methodologies, as well as some of the more well-known programs that you consider exceptional. What are the things that you think every beginner should learn about powerlifting right at the outset? I'm familiar with Westside, but have never really studied the art of powerlifting enough to be comfortable without input from you folks. Let's hear it!

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 187 | Take away the body part split and isolation work for smaller muscle groups. Work on compounds, heavy/light/speed. Focus on strengthning the weak points of the lifts. Use methods (pausing for example) to strengthen your nerve-muscle (neuromuscular) connection, activating more muscle fibers that you already have at once, rather than getting stronger purely out of gaining mass. Increase the volume of the major compound movements, rather than 3 sets of 8, maybe like 8-10 sets of 3. Westside 5x5 advanced Sheiko
