Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | As some of you are aware, I'm starting my own home gym and at the moment I don't have enough money for a power rack as I'm a student and I'm on a pretty low budget. I've decided to start off by buying a bench, a barbell, a couple of dumbbells & some heavy weights. In the future when I have more money I'll definitely be investing in a good power rack though, as I know it's important. Anyway, the bench I was GOING to buy is 'Bench 1' only because it had a Lat Pulldown, but now I've decided that Weighted Pullups, DB Rows & Barbell Rows are sufficient enough to build your lats so I don't need a Lat Pulldown. I have now decided to purchase 'Bench 2' instead as it is cheaper, and can hold more weight. I know it comes with some extra crap such as the flys & leg extension but I'll be taking them off. Anyway, does Bench 2 look like a more sensible investment than Bench 1? HK

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | what is your price range? you can find a powerack on ebay for cheap usually, then buy the barbell and weights from a store (like dicks or sport authoritys). that is what I'm doing when I have about 300 dollars.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 50 | This is what I have for my home gym. It's my second bench because my first one was crappy like the first pic you posted. ![]() http://www.sportmart.ca/store/2produ...7X3E1T71QB67F3 This bench also doubles as a squat rack with catch. Love it. Just make sure you get a reasonably wide bar so you're not hitting your elbows on the catches when benching.

\you can get a decent power rack from your local sporting good store for less then those benches.(~150) So a rack and bench is better and you can find them for about the same price
