Post New Ironmass member seeks advice

Hi guys! I'm currently deployed to Kuwait and looking to take advantage of my time in the sandbox to pile on some mass! I spend most of my time when i'm not in the field surfing these forums for info so I'm hoping you guys can help a noobie out-

Here's my predicament:

I've been lifting for a few months now using a pyramid program. My strength has definitely increased but the size just isnt coming along as I'd like it to.
From reading these forums it seems a higher set/higher rep program might be a better road for me to take. I know it works differently for each person but if anyone can throw a few pointers at me it would help me change my routine!

One more thing, the military is pretty strict on which supplements we can and cant take, I'm currently taking in plenty of protein, trying out Kre-Alkalyn and some HMB that a buddy says really helped him in the past, and I take ZMA as it helps me sleep through the EOD blows and aircraft flying around all hours of the night.
Tribex is another supp that people around here are buzzing about, I read more people knocking it than praising it so perhaps I'll just leave that alone...

first off...thanks so much for your service to your country dude....totally awesome!!

second....im no expert, but i find that changing things up weekly is a good thing...this is kinda what i am trying

lower reps with HEAVY weights the first week....(3-5)
a little higher reps the next week (6-8)
and the next week is the highest rep range (10-12)

course like you said...its all individual...maybe play around with this and see how your body reacts to each one.....

I am not an expert, but I do read a lot. Pyramids, negatives and increased time under tension (tut) schemes all have their place, but from what I have read, they should only be used periodically to get their benefits.

For hypertrophy, I would recommend AST Science's Max OT. It is a 12 week program for hypertrophy. The course is free and online. I learned a lot from that course. I also put on some nice mass by using their principles of lifting.

Eat bigger. Strength can come from maintenance kcals, but size cannot. Feed the hypertrophy, and yes, reaise the reps from 6-12. Of course, cycle up and down with weight.
