Default A lot of time on my hands...

I am in a great position where I have 4 hours of free time in the morning and 4 hours free time in the evening. I always have the urge to workout, but I don't know if I should overdo it or not. Right now I am working out once a day in the evening for about an hour and a half doing triple dropsets, 5 days a week, sometimes all 7 days if I get bored.

Any suggestions of what I can do with all my extra time? I would prefer to put it to good use in the gym and see if I can put on some good size within the next 3 weeks before I visit home.

edit - Well.. Right now I am training like I said for 1-2 hours a day, usually about an hour and a half. I am usually doing one muslce group a day, like Bi's on Monday, Chest on Tues, etc..

I don't really feel overtrained at all and I feel almost fully recovered within 2 days of the workout (like if I did Bi's on monday, by wed they feel ready to go again).

I have a friend who can work out for a two hours on bi's-tri's and be good to work that muscle group in two days. I think its fair to say most of us don't have those type of genetics. I think you need to figure out what "overtraining" is for you. I know I certianly can't work out bi's tri's on wednesday and then again on friday or saturday but he can. We both take the same supps, nothing elaborate (protien and a multi). He's been working out for 2-3 years now and hes consistently made expressive gains. If you have remarkable genetics like he does I don't see why you couldn't go a little more often. Just my thoughts

That is too much... Are you gaining?

I know everyone is different... but that is a ton of time to be spending in the gym. I know you may call it boredom, but it sounds like like a boarderline exercise dependency. Many of us feel the urge to lift... so to you I say:

Cardio.

Just make sure your eating a ton.

Don't forget your multi

I am gaining. In fact since 1 year ago I have gained 2.5-3 inches on my biceps alone. I am trying to eat as much as possible high protein food as well as consume at least 3 protein shakes a day, with at least 1 before and after workout. I may try to work some cardio in. I ride my bike around town for at least 30 mins a day so I am getting in some, but I may try to do more in the gym.

Keep em coming people!

Spend that time in the kitchen and learn to cook interesting, tasty, yet healthy recipes.

Or pick up another hobby. I mean 1 1 hr workout per day is plenty. Pick something else up that you might like...

Pre/Post workout shakes consist of 30 grams ON Whey w/ 50g Maltodextrin or when I feel really cool I go with 60g whey and 100g maltodextrin. If my stupid gym had a weight scale I would let you know if I am gaining weight or not
