Thumbs up HST (training)

I'm going to give HST training a try. Its sounds interesting and kinda fun. I'll post my opinions and results and I would like to hear from others who have tried it already and also others who are trying it for the first time. Even if you haven't and are not going to try it, but want to voice your opinion about HST then please do so. Thanks to all!

Being an older guy and not used to these new fangled names for training, can you briefly describe this regimen??

Don't forget that the program involves 2 week long mini cycles and to accommodate the increasing overload the reps performed are decreased with each 2 week cycle. 15, 12, 10, 8, 5 and then 2 more weeks at 5 reps. Take a week off completely and then start over again with even more weight, hopefully!

It's a good routine. It has given me some good gains.
Only you can check if works for you, though! Give it a try

Tell me, did you only do 1 working set for each exercise or did you do 2 sets for some exercises and 1 for others? I have trouble with doing 2 sets because my energy doesn't hold out.

Start with 1 set per excercise. If your body adapts and you dont feel ANY soreness at all, increase to 2 sets per excercise

HST is good but i just dont like the training.. simply boring

See I think it is the opposite of boring because its a full body workout every time you hit the gym. I'm not getting sore, I just don't think I can muster the energy for doing more than 1 set. I'm old

Well, today was my 4th day in my 1st 2 week HST cycle. I've felt the need to up my food intake a little. Its going well and I feel as though I'm slightly pumped all the time now. That may also be due to the food increase. I believe that it is important to maintain consistency in the order of which exercises that you perform to keep a good perspective of how you are progressing.

I think I did a very good job estimating my 15 rep maximums.

So far, so good.

Yes, I know my body well enough that I pretty much nailed all my estimates without having to actually attempt them first. Thats what comes with 20+ years of experience.
