Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Hi, i'm new here so i'm not sure if this is posted in the right topic? sorry if it isn't. anyway, i've been weight lifting at home for roughly 18 months or so now, and up until just recently i've only used a barbell for my different workouts. So... about a week ago i decided to buy a set of dumbells so I can try out different excersises etc... However I have found that after several months of doing barbell curls I've developed a much stronger right arm (my stronger arm to start with) than my left... obviously because as my left arm tires my right begins to take over. (probably down to in experience and poor form, as I was really clueless about what to do in my workouts to begin with.) Now that i've started to add alternating dumbell curls, concentration curls, dumbell curls on an incline etc... my left arm is really holding my right arm back on both weight and reps, so by the end of my workout my left arm is feeling pumped and my right feels like it could still go for a few more sets. So my question is how long roughly would you say it will take for my left to catch up? And does anyone have any tips on how to speed up the process? Thanks in advance. |

Just keep training with your new DBs and eventually it should even out a bit more. But it may be that it will always be lagging a little behind your other arm, which is not abnormal at all btw.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 125 | My left side of my body has and always will be weaker than my right.... strength, endurance, balance, you name it. Over time it has balanced out pretty well. With 1 arm dumbbell rows, for example, I can do more reps with my right side, so I always do my left side first and then match the reps with my right. As long as you're making an effort to equal out both sides, that's all that matters, especially before you get years of training under your belt. Keep at it with those dumbbells. and welcome to the site. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 177 | Use a heavy weight that you can only get 3 - 6 reps with your weak side, and a weight that you can get 8-12 on your strong side. Every couple weeks use the same weight until it evens out. |
