Question Is a 205 lb deadlift anything impressive for 155 lb guy?

Just curious because it was a new high for me. Started with my usual 45's on each side for 12 reps for warm-up, then said f*** it and threw on the 25's (I usually just throw on 10's and step up in 10 lb increments from there). Did 8 of those so I went for the gold and put on the 10's, managed to squeeze out 6 reps. Felt pretty good about myself, so I did another set of 6. I was pretty happy with myself, but then again I am weak.

Funny thing is it felt like I had more in me.

If that is more weight x sets x reps than you ever did before, then yes, that is great! Give your body a few days or a week to recover and see if you can do a little more for the same number of sets and reps.

Sure lots of people can do more weight than that, but remember, everyone had to do 205 lbs (or something a lot less than they can do now) before they got to where they are now.

Congratulations!

Depends on your age and how long you've been training.

But, a PR is a PR and that is always a good thing. :bigthumbu

The simple fact that you're even doing deadlifts is impressive, keep it up.

Also shows me that u're keeping a good gym log..

Most people at my gym can't tell me what order they did their exercyses in.. or how much weight they used & how many reps they got with that weight...

Nobody understands it when I celebrate a PB.. (Personal Best) or PR ... cause they can't relate... but it feels dayum good.

So once again, congrats on your PB...

Peace..~G

yeah.. all this logical constructive support. I just switched here from BB.com because I got tired of all the same old questions, trolls and Newbs.

Deadlifting is hardcore bro. Keep em going. Your DL should go up pretty fast in the beginning. I am 161, and do 280 X 2. But i have been doing them for a while. Try walking around your gym (on off days) with 80 or 100 lbs dumbless in your hands. DId wonders for my grip.

Keep it up bro--like they said, you can't judge yourself by anybody else cause we've all been in the game different lengths of time, have different genes, etc. Keep up the hard work and keep growing and setting new PRs.

Yeah, it's really a personal kind of thing. It's how much you can lift and feel good about.

I think a 205lb deadlift is pretty good. I have just started doing dead lifts about a month ago and I'm using 205lbs, and I have been lifting for ~15 months, considering you're almost 50lbs lighter than me makes it impressive

But I also think I remember hearing/seeing that it's easier for shorter people to deadlift?? I don't know about that though.
