Default johnsbod's Controlled Labs-Red Acid™ Log

Thanks again to Controlled Labs for allowing me the opportunity to test this product! I promise to give as much detail as possible in my log and to give honest feedback, whether it be positive or negative.

I would also like to note that I just finished a cycle of Rebound XT (as a cutting supplement) and put on a few pounds of muscle in the process of cutting. The last week or so I ate slightly above maintenace to try and put on a little bit more muscle before this log.

Controlled Labs-Red Acid™

Red Acid™: Fat Incineration Matrix (180 Capsules)
Red Acid™ is the most advanced fat incineration matrix ever to reach the
market. It combines a synergistic blend of naturally occurring fatty acids
and fatty acid analogues that serve as endogenous agonists of peroxisome
proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPAR-alpha) and help to modulate
ghrelin levels, producing a hunger satisfaction that effectively lowers your
food intake. The fatty acid blend also helps stimulate glycerol and fatty
acid release from adipocytes throughout the body.
Key Attributes:
Body Fat Reduction via Lipolysis
Increased Energy
Help Activate PPAR- alpha
Potent and effective
Decreased Appetite
Greater Focus
Enhanced Blood Flow
Insulin Regulation
Ephedra Free

Maximize fat loss results without nausea
Red Acid™ Write-Up:
Most people have trouble losing their fat stores because they cannot control
their food intake while on a cutting or maintenance phase. Even with proper
diet and cardio, many individuals will eventually experience problems losing
fat at an "optimal" rate. Now we have the answer: Red Acid™. Red Acid™ is
the most advanced fat incineration matrix ever to reach the market. Unlike
other fat loss products, Red Acid™ helps you to achieve fat loss via several
different pathways. It combines a synergistic blend of naturally occurring
fatty acids and fatty acid analogues that serve as endogenous agonists of
peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPAR-alpha) and help to
modulate ghrelin levels, producing a hunger satisfaction that effectively
lowers your food intake. The fatty acid blend also helps stimulate glycerol
and fatty acid release from adipocytes throughout the body. Herbal appetite
suppressants that work via the CNS rather than the digestive tract, like our
fatty acid blend does, were included to address the same appetite problem,
but via a different pathway, the brain. Natural energizers and thermogenics
have also been added to increase activity in the gym, which leads to calorie
use. Enhanced focus is also attained by the addition of some of the most
thoroughly researched nootropics.
The REDuction Complex™ (Fatty Acids and PPAR-alpha):
Red Acid™ contains a fatty acid matrix that includes Oleoylethanolamide
(OEA) and Tetradecylthioacetic Acid (TTA). OEA is a fatty acid that is a
naturally occurring amide of ethanolamine and oleic acid. It starts working
once it reaches the duodenum (the upper 1/3 of the small intestine) and is
normally synthesized there by your body. It serves as an endogenous agonist
of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPAR-alpha) and
regulates lipid metabolism. OEA also activates vagal sensory afferent
neurons and excites nodose ganglion neurons, which leads to decreased
appetite and satiety. This naturally occurring fatty acid therefore inhibits
food cravings and helps release fat from its stores in the body.

Tetradecylthioacetic acid (TTA) is a 3-thia fatty acid that reduces total
cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL/HDL cholesterol when
used in combination with a good diet and also exhibits anti-inflammatory
effects. TTA, like OEA, is an agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated
receptor-alpha (PPAR-alpha). TTA has been shown to increase catabolism of
fatty acids and exhibit antiadiposity effects. TTA will help to effectively
remove fat from its body stores and without forcing your body to effectively
use it for energy. This allows you to “burn” fat at a much higher level than
by simply exercising.

The Transport Mechanism:

A few hundred milligrams of flaxseed oil powder has also been added to aid
in the transport of these two fatty acids into the duodenum and other
necessary areas, so that they can be utilized completely.
The Red Sweat Complex™ (Thermogenics, Nootropics, and Appetite Suppression via CNS):
We have combined the most effective and potent thermonutrients to increase
the utilization of energy in your body. The most potent extracts of
energizing ingredients were included to make your trip to the gym one you
would not forget. If you do not work out with intensity you cannot realize
your true potential for fat loss and lean body mass accumulation. Intensity
in the gym cannot be accomplished without focus either; you need the mental
acuity that only our top of the line nootropics can provide in order to
excel at your fat loss goals.
The Red Slob Complex™ (Herbal Appetite Suppression, Thyroid Support, and Digestion Aids):
Lastly, we added a proprietary blend of potent herbal appetite suppressants,
digestion aids, thyroid support and stomach soothing compounds that work in
synergy to target one of the hardest parts of fat loss: eating right. This
blend effectively targets the central nervous system (CNS) to control your
desire for food (without nausea or discomfort) and when combined with the
anorexic effects of OEA you are in for a powerful combination.

If you want to decrease your appetite, get rid of unwanted body fat, ramp up
your endurance and enhance your focus in the gym, then Red Acid™ is the
right choice for you.
Red Acid™ makes an excellent stack when used in conjunction with Blue
Rhino™. Together they will help you lose body fat and maintain your
testosterone levels during a cutting (fat loss) phase.

About Me

Age: 31

Sex: Male

Height: 6'

Weight: 230

BF%: ??? (I will estimate tomorrow)

Bodytype: Meso-Endo

Training Experience: I started lifting weights around age 13 and was pretty serious about it until I got to college. During college I lifted on and off and I got back into it seriously after that. I had a rotator cuff injury that kept me out of lifting for several years, but I have been back in the game seriously for a while now and my shoulder is finally healthy again.

Short Term Goal: Trying to cut down to about 210-215 lbs.

Long Term Goal: Cut until 210-215, clean bulk up to about 230 and cut for next summer with more muscle mass.

Training

I've finally found a good amount of volume for my routines while cutting. I'm trying to use Saturdays as a weak bodypart day, and am currently working on back width and rear delts, and I'm trying to bring my arms up to par with my torso. My using a chest/biceps and back/triceps split I've been able to use slightly lower volume with my arms and train them directly and indirectly each week with good results so far. My side delts are a strong point for me so I don't do much volume for them. During a bulk I would normally have slightly higher volume. I'm working in the 6-8 rep range on all these exercises unless otherwise noted.
  • Monday-Chest, Biceps, Forearms, Abs
    Incline Dumbell Press (3 sets)
    Decline Bench Press (3 sets)
ATrainer Flyes [at a slight incline] (3 sets, 10-12 reps)
    Barbell Curls (2 sets)
    Incline Dumbell Curls (2 sets)
    Preacher Curl Machine (2 sets)
    Hammer Curls (2 sets)
    Wrist Curls (2 sets)
Decline Situps with Medicine Ball (15 reps)
  • Wednesday-Legs, Shoulders
    Squats (3 sets)
    Leg Press (3 sets, 8, 6, 20 reps)
    Good Mornings (3 sets)
Leg Curls (3 sets, 10-12 reps)
Seated Calf Raises (2 sets, 12 reps)
Calf Raises (on leg press) (2 sets, 12 reps)
Cable Side Laterals (3 sets, 10 reps)
    Seated Military Press (3 sets)
  • Friday-Back, Triceps, Rear Delts, Abs
    Pullups (3 sets)
    Deadlifts (3 sets, 8, 6, 4 reps)
    Hammer Strength Rows (3 sets)
Hammer Strength High Grip Rows (3 sets)
Close Grip Bench Press (2 sets)
    Dips (2 sets)
    Triceps Pushdowns (2 sets)
Weighted Ab Crunches (2 sets, 15 reps)
  • Saturday-weak bodypart training

Cardio Schedule:
  • Tuesday-Jogging for approximately 30-45 minutes
  • Thursday-Jogging for approximately 30-45 minutes
  • Saturday-Low intesity cardio, normally walking for about an hour
  • Occasionally I also do low intensity cardio in the evenings on lifting days.

Other Supplements and Diet

I’m currently taking the following in addition to Red Acid:
  • Optimum Nutrition-100% Whey Protein
  • C u s t o m N u t r i t i o n W a r e h o u s e-Bulk CEE
  • Health From the Sun-Ultra Omega 3 Fish Oil
  • GNC-Mega Man Multivitamin
  • Purity Products-Ultimate H.A. Formula (joint support and skin)
  • Primaforce-Lean Green
  • Scivation-Xtend

Supplement History: For years I only supplemented with multivitamins, protein powder, and creatine. Over the past year I have started trying more supplements which have mainly included:
  • NO Products: NO-Xplode, Xpand, bulk powders
  • Protein Powders: ON 100% Whey Protein, ON Casein Protein, Higher Power Whey Protein, Substance WPI (old formula), bulk protein powder
  • Fish Oil: various brands
  • Creatine Products: various creatine monohydrate products before switching to bulk CEE (1kg seems to last forever )
  • Multivitamins: Animal Pak (I found it to be too expensive over the longrun), various other multivitamins including what I'm currently using, GNC Mega Man
  • Other: Various brands of green tea, SesaThin, Xtend and other BCAA products, ClenButical, Stacker 2 (old and new formulas), other Ephedra based products, caffeine, Rebound XT (working well for me so far )

Current Diet: I'm currently taking in a deficit of 7000 calories over 6 days with my goal being to lose 2 lbs per week. 1 day per week I allow myself a cheat meal and eat maintenance calories. I've found that this allows me to keep my metabolism from slowing down so much during a diet and the cheat meal keeps my cravings in control during the week. I'm also pretty carb sensitive, so for this cut I'm trying to keep a 50/30/20 protein/carb/fat ratio.

My current diet consists mostly of:
  • Boneless-skinless chicken breast
  • Lean Cuts of Beef
  • Tuna
  • Oats
  • Brown Rice
  • Whole Grain Wheat Bread
  • Salad Greens
  • Broccoli (and some other veggies)
  • Natural Peanut Butter
  • Fat Free Cottage Cheese
  • Olive Oil for Cooking/Salads

Default Day 0

Dosage: I just got my package in the mail this afternoon and took 3 caps before my cardio session as a test. I will be taking 4 caps per serving starting tomorrow morning.

Comments: I noticed a noticeable increase in energy and a slight increase in body temperature and perspiration, but nothing that said to me that I shouldn’t be taking 4 caps at a time.

Other: Since this was a test for me to see whether I should indeed be taking 4 caps at a time, and my conclusion is that I should, the “official” start to this log will be tomorrow. I also hadn’t logged my diet and supplement schedule today and will give those times in detail starting tomorrow. I will also post current measurements tomorrow.

Supplements and Meals
To clarify, I won’t be posting specific meals in this section of my posts. I’m eating pretty much the same thing every day--2800 calories, 50/30/20 protein/carbs/fats and on one day per week I allow myself a cheat meal and eat maintenance calories for the day. I will be noting which day in my log it eat the cheat meal/maintenance calories though.

Training
I will be posting any changes in my lifts from week to week, but since today is my first workout in this log there are obviously no changes.
Wednesday-Legs, Shoulders
Squats (3 sets)
Leg Press (3 sets, 8, 6, 20 reps)
Good Mornings (3 sets)
Leg Curls (3 sets, 10-12 reps)
Seated Calf Raises (2 sets, 12 reps)
Calf Raises (on leg press) (2 sets, 12 reps)
Cable Side Laterals (3 sets, 10 reps)
Seated Military Press (3 sets)

Comments: I think 30 minutes prior to breakfast was perfect timing for me. I was just starting to feel the effects of the stimulants before I ate breakfast. The energy seems to stay up for quite a while after taking Red Acid too. I seemed to have a bit more energy during my workout, especially towards the end today. My shoulder exercises had been lagging quite a bit, particularly the Seated Military Press, but today I had much more energy and next week I should actually been able to increase the weight. Normally when cutting my lifts do suffer a bit, so we shall see how they change in the upcoming weeks.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I forgot to take my Xtend today post-workout.

Training
Friday-Back, Triceps, Rear Delts, Abs
Pullups (3 sets)
Deadlifts (3 sets, 8, 6, 4 reps)
Hammer Strength Rows (3 sets)
Hammer Strength High Grip Rows (3 sets)
Close Grip Bench Press (2 sets)
Dips (2 sets)
Triceps Pushdowns (2 sets)
Weighted Ab Crunches (2 sets, 15 reps)

Comments: My schedule was all messed up today. I was up late last night grading tests that I had to pass back at 8AM this morning and my regular workout partner couldn't make it today, so I hit the gym with a total newbie at 9:15AM (normal workout time M-W-F is 1:30PM). Since I was so tired, I completely crashed shortly after getting home and ended up sleeping from about Noon until about 4:30PM. My energy was still good while in the gym today though and some of my lifts were up today actually. I set personal records on both Close Grip Bench Press (while my newbie friend did one set with the bar and one with a 5lb plate on both sides ) and Dips. I will be interested to see how my lifts next week compare to this week after a going through a full week cycle on Red Acid. So far I've been pleased with the energy, and without it my workout this morning would have been sub-par for sure because of lack of sleep.

Training
Saturday-Low Intensity Cardio/Weak Bodypart Training
Brisk Walking, 45 minutes
Hammer Curls, 3 sets
Wrist Curls, 3 sets
Reverse Wrist Curls, 3 sets

Comments: Well, I finished catching up on my sleep this morning and hit the gym refreshed. I decided after 45 minutes of walking to do some forearm training today. Energy was good overall and I have been noticing still a slight increase in body temperature, but I had no increase in perspiration during my light cardio.

Normally on Saturday I plan on posting new measurements, but since it’s only been half of a week I skipped it today. I weighed in at 229 this morning, down 1 pound from my weight on Wednesday morning.
