Sean Taylor - Spitting

Do you think the punishment for Sean Taylor's spitting incident with Michael Pittman was fair? Should he have been suspended or was the fine enough (or too much?).

I wouldn't have been surprised if he had been suspended, but if he had I would have hoped it would have been the first game of the next season (a la Robbie Alomar in the playoffs when he spit in the umpires face). However, I think that since in the past no one was suspended for doing it he should have just been fine. $17k is no nearly enough, however. The guy is a millionaire.

i think he should have been suspened and fined more. and the other guy should have found him in the tunnel and open a can of whoop a$$ you just dont spit on players then again taylor is just another low life scum from miami sorry if i offened anyone .

i saw a vid of it and sean taylor didnt spit in the guys face... he spit towards the ground some may have gotten on the other guy but not in his face. I mean come on the guy didnt even whip his face. if someone spit in your face what would the first thing you do be...?

STILL spitting AT or ON a person is unacceptable behavior and if Sean Taylor wants to be NFL caliber stock he needs to ACT LIKE IT.

I think he should have been fined a HELL of alot more than he was....and he really ought to make a public apology IMHO...

Redskins safety faces up to 46 years in jail

MIAMI -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor faces up to 46 years in prison after two additional assault charges were filed against him Friday.

Taylor

Michael Grieco, an assistant state attorney, said the charges reflect Taylor's alleged threatening of three people with a gun in an armed confrontation over an all-terrain vehicle on June 1.

Taylor, 22, now faces three counts of aggravated assault, each of which carries a minimum sentence of three years and a maximum of 15 years in prison. He also faces one misdemeanor battery charge that carries a potential one-year prison term.

Trial is scheduled to begin March 20 for Taylor, a former University of Miami star who signed a seven-year, $18-million contract after being drafted by the Redskins in 2004. He has six interceptions and 120 tackles in his two seasons.

Taylor's attorney, Edward Carhart, said the additional charges surprised him.

"The state has had this case since June and now they're filing these added charges? It's bizarre," Carhart said.

Taylor has pleaded not guilty and remains free on $16,500 bond.

The Redskins lost to the Seattle Seahawks two weeks ago in the NFC playoffs. In a playoff victory against Tampa Bay, Taylor was ejected after spitting in the face of Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman. Earlier in that game, he ran a fumble back for a touchdown.
