Thumbs down The world is a pretty cruel place for overweight people

It doesn't matter how hard you train, how well you eat, how dedicated you are to your education, career, or family. It does not matter if you helped write the book on fitness.

The truth is, if you are even the slightest bit overweight you WILL be looked down upon. You WILL be labeled as somehow undedicated, lazy, and/or not knowledgeable. The only people that will even begin to understand you are other overweight people have gone through the same ordeals.

It's a *****ed up world for people who are genetically overweight. We are constantly accused and slandered that it is our own fault, and that you can't be genetically predisposed to be overweight. People who are naturally not overweight are 100% completely not understanding, and somehow have the gall to put themselves on a throne of dominance when they interact with someone who's overweight.

I've seen it when I was 300lbs, I see it today at 215lbs after almost 3 years of lifting. I see it in myself, I see it around me, and I see other people experience it every day. I've seen the social rejection both first hand and from a distance.

It really just makes me sick. What makes me even more sick is that it's reality. That's just the way it is. There is no changing it.

This does not have to do with me, this has to do with all of "us". My endomorphic brothers who truly have mountains to move to get to respectable BF%. I'm one of them, and I know plenty others both online and off... **** anyone who says people are somehow fat 'by choice'. **** the people who don't realize how good they have it.

You're right Skel but unfortunately this is in all aspects where there shows any chance of difference. People are always looking for ways to seperate themselves and show themselves as superior/better.

You're a Cowboys fan?
You're a Democrat
You're a Harvard grad?
You're Hispanic?
You're poor?
You're a powerlifter?
You're from France?
You're Army?
The list goes on and on. People will take anything and use it as a reason to not believe or discredit them. So being overweight and having to fight it for life like you and I will be used as ammo for various reasons. It only hurts when it's used by friends/loved ones in times as insults.

Very true. Mankind is very brutal at it's roots. I guess that's why birds of a feather flock together so to speak.

Yup and as a police officer I get to witness it on a daily basis. The sad part is that it's more common in police than I originally believed. People suck for the most part. This is why I keep my circle of friends small. I believe in quality over quantity.

people suck. Those people are the people who don't understand what HARD WORK is.

Someone looking down on you? Turn it around on them and prove that you are the better person for having to diet harder and train smarter to get to a decent BF%.

I mean yeah it does suck because we might not get that girl of our dreams because we are fat and looked down upon, but do we really want someone that shallow (answer : only in bed)?

Ultimatley, would you rather be the way you are now, or given it by the grace of god and not had to work for it?

Same can be said of any group that doesn't fit the ideal. It's tough like you say but you really need to find inner satisfaction instead of constantly looking for others approval. If you can make yourself proud what else really matters?

It' just a crazy aspect of human nature that people always crave approval and attention from the people least likely to give it to them. The overweight male nerd obsesses on hooking up with the captain of the cheerleading squad, he doesn't want the the overweight female nerd. The poor person wants the rich guy to invite him for a round of golf. The HS dropout wants to proves he's as smart as the guy with the college degree. People are always going to try and build their self-esteem by seeking acceptance from the groups they aspire to be like. The problem is that looking for this acceptance usually has the opposite effect, as it leads to rejection and rejection leads to lower self-esteem and an even greater need for acceptance... it's a vicious cycle.

Like DF basically said, the way to be happy is to break this cycle by accepting yourself as you are and not caring what others think. However, that is easier said than done for most people.

It does get easier as you get older and see that even the people you think or thought were perfect are far from it.

Thats really gay. I hope you took a crap on his pillow for that.

In other news, I like pie. Mostly cherry pie, but I don't mind Oreo pie either.
