Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I do believe I've found my own personal problem in the battle against the bulge. School is out THANK GOD, and I had the day off from work. What did I do today? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. That is HORRIBLE. I mean I literally got nothing accomplished. All I did was play DDR for 40 minutes to an hour. That is why I'm overweight and have a hard time losing it. Given the opportunity, if I don't stop myself, I will just sit around and be sedentry indefinitely. *gets up to do stuff and salvage what's left of the day* Damn you MMORPGs... lol ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 7 | I tend to get myself into a Madden 06 + movie mood and could do it all day. Start up my franchise on Madden while I watch one of the movies I get from the blockbuster online thing and let time slip away. It also doesn't help that I love food that isn't good for me. :eat:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Overweight is equal to too many calories. There are overweight desk clerks, and overweight builders. They just eat too much for their specific activity. Don't be ashamed to spend a day or so being a slob, have fun, watch them movies and play them games (Is it WoW? I bet it's WoW. That game is like meth) Just remember to lower the cals. Hell, it's raining here, got the day off from work, so I'm gonna sit back and watch some movies. (Henry: Diary of a Serial Killer and Goodfellas)

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | I concur with skel, given the chance i will generally spend the day infront of the tv, pc, ps2 or with a book... and with cookies. That is why i'm fat, of course it is calories in vs calories out but fat people are in my experience generally sedentary. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 50 | I think the entire reason I got overweight is because I was in denial about any difference between 500cal of High Fructose Corn Syrup vs. 500cal of Oatmeal. I'd never have snacks between meals and then just have a large unhealthy meal. My calories were never that high but the foods I was eating and the way I was eating probably destroyed my metabolism. This is also why I had been lifting for years and my lifts barely went up. Thank god for the internet or I'd still be there.

![]() There's a lot more to it than eating too much. A lot of severely over weight people seem to have some things in common, and it goes back to the 'true' meaning of somatypes. Skinny guys are normally pretty active and tend to twidget a lot, while us endomorphic fat guys tend to just sit around wishing we had a giant straw so we didn't have to pick up the glass of chocolate milk.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 26 | I read a study that showed that bouncing your leg up and down while sitting can burn up to 800 cals/day if you do it all the time that you are sitting. ![]() |

![]() But I'm looking 'beyond' calories vs. calories out. I'm looking at the pyschological and social science of it. Obviously overweight people ate too much. But why? Are we born with less of a desire to move? Do we not get 'natural highs' from exercise? Is it poor eating habits passed down from our parents? Those are the big issues. The 'why' people are overweight in the big picture. I dream of a day where obesity is no longer a problem in this country. In somalia people are dieing of starvation, and in America people are dieing of donuts in their arteries. It's disgusting. It's the complete flipside. Instead of mankind enjoying the fruits of technology, we are choking on them ![]()

I agree that about the Somalia/America thing.......I'm sure things would be the same if Somalians had donuts though, lol!! FYI, I was 33% bf in May of 2001 and I have found that I am much more active now, even when I'm not working out. I seem to be much more willing to do sh*t now since I've gotten in much better shape. From what I've see, most obese people come from families that are obese, ie: they learn bad eating habits and thus develop poor excercise habits. | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Sometimes I feel a little guilty. Here I am eating 3500+ cals a day to gain, whilst people in somalia are trying to survive on a 10th of that. Also: I've known pure endomorphs who were slim during their teenage years (due to very healthy family lifestyles) but blew up to the 250lbs 30% when they left for college. Cals in vs cals out.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | I think it comes down to a lack of education. No one (aside those people with the fetish) wants to be fat - people just dont know at the outset how to eat correctly. Schools should do more, i was watching a show that showed a school in the US where they were teaching kids about BMR and stuff. It looked pretty good: is this the case in every US school? As far as i know it doesnt happen here in the UK, it seems to most people that eating healthily consists of eating less, of good food and bad. Oh and ridiculous amounts of fruit. |

| Pro Stature | I was overweight because I simply had nothing to do. In school, my parents wouldn't let me play sports and we hardly ever went anywhere. Add to the fact that my dad made a good $1000 a week doing his job, and you can tell we had a shit load of food everywhere. I got fat because of my endormorphic genetics and boredom.
