Default What should I do?

Right now I’m 6’0 and 219lbs. and in football. As soon as off season starts I want to start cutting right away .I would be lifting 5 days a week and doing some type of cardio everyday as a part of the off-season program. .I’ve read everywhere that you should bulk first and then cut. Well I really don’t want to get any bigger than I am now. I don’t mean muscle wise I mean fat .What I really want to do is lower my bf%. would I be alright if I started cutting right away? I would be lifting 5 days a week so I shouldn’t lose a lot of muscle. I would eat as clean as I can considering school food and everything. What should I do?

Wait 2 weeks after the season and then start dieting down.

Lift 3-4 times a week, while losing fat you won't have too much energy to lift a lot.

Focus on getting more protein, less carbs, and less calories.

There's no need to bulk before cutting

Do you know what your bodyfat% is?

For the most part, it sounds like you already know what you're doing. Lifting 5x a week is fine. The only difference between bulking and cutting is the amount of food you eat. Cardio is for the most part used as a way to further a calorie deficit and promote burning of subcutaneous fat.

Definitely wait until the football season is over. You're going to need the strength and the SIZE out on that football field.

As for your diet... eat clean. If the food in the cafeteria isn't healthy, don't eat it, find something else to eat. Keep your calories consistent, and try to keep your nutrient macros consistent. It's a pain in the ass but it can be done. I have been 'cutting' for well over a year now, and I can tell you from experience that diet really is THE most important aspect of the equation.

Regardless of what you decide to do, be sure to keep us updated!

If you are running a caloric deficit during football season you probably won't perform as well on the field. Either try and eat maintenance or slightly above, but focus on a clean diet. You can cut after football season is over.

"Welll..........You can, however your gain's will not be as drastic as if you cut up first. I really recommend bulking up first or at least for a few month's. Trust me it's worth it in the long run.You can cut up right now but, you won't be as satisfied. Plus you may not have the look you want. My friend cut up and he said he wanted his muscles to stay just the way they were, however when he finished cutting up it didn't turn out to well and it took longer for him to ut up. Because the more muscle you have the easier it is to burn off calories...Hope this helped!"

This is a suggestion that somebody else made. What do you think about it?Is it something i should really take into consideration?

with your build (220lbs football player) there is no need for you to bulk first. I'm sure you have plenty of muscle to fuel your metabolism :king:
