Default SHOULD I BUY THIS BIKE?

I would like to know if this recumbant bike is worth me buying..

I'm male, around 200lbs, 6ft1 and need to lose fat when I start cutting. I feel that a recumbant bike at home is my best option. The local Gyms are shite and there is nowhere to run.

Would this be an effective piece of equipment for home cardio?

It is a Carl Lewis EMR17 magnetic recumbant cycle

- Smooth quiet ride (apparantly)
- 8 levels of resistance
etc.

This is my cheapest option for a recumbant bike, what do you guys think...should I buy it? does it look ok?

looks like a cheap piece of crap. The girl on it in the pic is like what... 5'6? And she makes it look tiny and flimsy.

IMO your best option is buying the very cheapest stationary bike at your local walmart/department store. I paid 70 bucks for mine over a year ago and it's still working me into a pile of sweat

I personally don't care for recumbents, but I understand some folks like them for their backs.

Do you know who really makes it? The fact that Carl Lewis is an endorser doesn't really speak to its quality. And at that price, about $218, I would want it to be from a reputable company with a good warranty. I tried Google, but didn't find any details other than what's listed here. Also, couldn't find any customer reviews. http://www.boots.com/shop/product_de...8&slmRefer=000

I was in the same position a couple of years ago. I went ahead and bit the bullet (took forever for my checkbook to recover ) and splurged on a Diamondback. I wasn't finding anything I liked under $500.

Look at your position on it. You are sitting! (things are not good when an exercise machine is trying to save you energy right off the bat)

Look into a used stairmaster (bodyweight is 100% working against you with every step). I got a almost new 4400 series for $450.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah it does look somewhat flimsy, but the max user weight is 330 pounds so I assumed it would be ok.

So it's a pile of shite eh? bugger. The search continues.

I think so...I thought I read somewhere stationary bike the least effective cardio in terms of calorie-burn?

I'd get an elliptical.. or better yet, join a boxing or kickboxing class.

I don't know why I keep advocating the kickboxing and MMA, cuz it's increasing the amount of people who can kick my ass.

Bloody hell....I couldn't find a decent alternative for the budget I had so I went ahead and ordered the thing lol. Please find it in your hearts to forgive me

Oh, and the bastards said it will take anywhere up to a MONTH for it to be delivered. I tell you, it's hard being GeordieArtois sometimes, it really is.

It's not too late bro... cancel your order and get a skipping rope. I'm totally not kidding.

But if you do end up going through with it, i guess it's better than nothing. But honestly a skipping rope would be better IMHO.
