| New Member | Over the last year I have gained a considerable amount of weight around my mid section. (I got a gut). Now that I am back to working out I wanted to see if anybody has any suggestions on how to loss the fat. Any suggestions would be helpful, pill, exercizes, diets. Just please dont say running. I hate running. I am saving up all my willingness to run for the moment a big bear starts chasing me. But other than that I am open minded. Low Impact would be nice, I have neck issues. Thats the reason I quit working out in the first place. Trav |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 113 | Well, fortunately for you, running only plays a marginal amount in proper fat loss! Your diet will make up about 80 or 90% of your weight loss, providing the majority of your caloric deficit. I'm not going to give you a diet, but what I would suggest is you seach and run around our forums. There are a TON of quality diets and variations thereof on this site. Then you can make a diet for yourself, post it here, and let us critique it. You are going to want to train heavy (within 3-8 reps per set), which is a common misconception by the general public. In addition, you ARE going to want to do SOME kind of cardio. It doesn't have to be running. Cycling, swimming, or even say... golfing.. will do the trick. Cardio should be done on NON-TRAINING days, and at least 2 or 3 times per week. Another good trick for weightloss is concentrating the majority of your carbs in the first half of the day, and stick to fat at night with all your carbs coming from fibrous sources (veggies). Protein will be a stable at EVERY MEAL. Oh yeah.. did I mention you are going to want to eat at least every 3 hours? THat is right. Set an alarm. IF you don't eat every three hours, you are going to risk the loss of lean mass. This of course is an exception when it comes to the night time. Post any questions or concerns. Don't forget your multi HERE IS A STARTING DIET (BUT YOURS WILL HAVE FEWER KCALS): http://www.ironmass.com/nutrition/7644-unc13-unc19.html
