in 15 months of cutting, I have found that low-medium (longer duration, 30min+) cardio works best for me for fat loss. I see much better progress doing medium intensity cardio 3x a week than i do HIIT 3x a week.

I've been doing HIIT 3x week, but am going to go back to low intensity cardio for 30 minutes to an hour.

Cool, when I used to cut I did HIIT 3-5x a week. And I just wanted to know what most people here do. Did you guys do it in a fasted state?

But wouldn't your body use up fat stores before using muscle? And as long as you have a good post-cardio meal, wouldn't it be okay? The reason I ask is because I can't eat before cardio, otherwise I just throw it up, making me even more catabolic than before.

A. I don't know, I don't care, it's been argued to death and no one can agree on one answer. The fact that you DO the cardio is much more important than WHEN.

Your body needs glucose, and it doesn't care if it needs to tear down muscle to get it.

My plan is to do cardio everyday. But not what your thinking. I mean 30 minutes of flexing intensely from Mon-Fri. And On Sat-Sun, I will be doing HIIT cardio.

Cool Advice of the Champs

I try to follow the advice of the champs..

http://ironmass.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2616

I wouldn't do HIIT cardio on an empty stomach, fyrst thyng in the morning... ... At that tyme I would do longer, moderate intensity cardio... drinking only water... However, I've heard that you can have a meal consisting of protein & fat.. lyke a protein shake or natural peanut butter... and it'll styll be the same as an empty stomach workout... because you aren't providing the body with carbs to use as energy before your workout (cardio) ...

I only do HIIT after a workout... but of course... you may have to experiment and see what works best for you...

Peace..~G

1 hour walk every morning.. A small meal before, and after with like a quart of water..... once a day while bulking to keep the fat gain down, and twice a day when cutting.. the second time is at night...

Those are ideal opportunities to burn bodyfat... I actually aim for low-moderate intensity in the mornings .... Then after workouts.. I go HIIT for a minimum of 20 minutes... I had read that you needed to do at least 20 minutes for the body to optimally burn fat or somethyng lyke that...

I set the elliptical on level 6.. then go 1:30 at 110+ spm ... then for :30 I'll get the spm over 200... and then repeat... Works great for me..

Peace..~G

yeh, i do low intensity for about 30 minutes in the morning because i dont have enough energy to have a good HIIT workout. so i do that, then after my workout i do some HIIT to wrap things up.
