Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 162 | Constantly eating with a solid amount of protein. I don't think it's as so much keeping insulin low as it is keeping insulin LEVEL. Whether it's protein and fat, or protein and carbs, keto, or 40/40/20, at the end of the day, it's about keeping insulin LEVEL throughout the day along with burning more than you take in. Obviously I doubt you can take it to an extreme (eating 8 candy bars a day), but this seems to be the premise and backbone of the new book I'm going to write "Stop being a fat ass, fat ass". At which point I will probably become a millionaire, but don't worry, I will not forget the little people (you). Why did I come up with this realization? Because last semester I tried my hardest to STARVE myself into a nice physique. You know what happened? I ended up getting FATTER. Just as Tom Venuto claims in his book... 5-6 small meals a day really is *THE* key to losing bodyfat. It's even more important than cardio or weights. It is an incredibley powerful determining factor in regards to your physique. I'm going to copy+paste this onto pubmed now so that people will believe me.

Recipes: 1 Rep Power: 12 | Tried to bulk a bit doing 5-6 small meals and while I was eating over 4500 calories, 35% protein, 40%carb, 25% fat at 160ish I didnt gain any weight. In fact I was losing weight. Dropped my calories to 3000ish and started eating only 4 meals with a lot less protein and I gained about 10 lbs in a very short period of time.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 44 | Completely agree with ya Skel. People are always ragging on 6 meals a day saying that so and so study says it didn't boost metabolism over 3 meals. How about body composition though? All I know is all the shredded people I hear about eat 6+ meals a day. This also agrees with my oats postworkout strategy. ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 162 | I think it's ALL about keeping insulin steady all day long. I'm going to go on a limb and say that it's partly why "keto" diets work.... your insulin is kept low, but it is also kept VERY STABLE by nature.

Low carb diets can work, but are not necessary. Each meal should be in total low glycemic. (except post workout) to avoid spikes in insulin (and subsequent drops in blood sugar). To control cortisol, you need plenty of sleep and to eat regularly. South Beach Diet is built on these concepts. Contrary to popular belief it is not a keto diet. It is about eating good carbs and healthy fats for a lifetime. *

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Nah. I'm no troll. I just smoke a bit in the morning to get me motovated to go running. I lost a lot of weight so far, but most of it was due to water weight, post surgery stuff (I just got over testicular cancer last month, only simple surgery was needed). Hell, weed is the reason why I got paranoid enough to say something about the lump on my nut. Well. I lost 10lbs in the last two weeks, (it comes off fast when you start). and I am down to just over 260. I am eating safely, and the pot attributes to keeping my appitite up to even eat what I do (1,200) calories a day. I walk/jog 3 miles a day. I do 100-150 Push Up/Pull Downs a day. Pot just gets me motovated. I have beaten the 'munchies' |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 162 | Just becareful in the sense that marijuana is a "lazy time" drug, and overtime will sap away at motivation instead of give it. Also be sure to give credit where it's due. You lost 10lbs because YOU went running in the morning, not b/c pot went running for you ![]()

ok. you are doing exactly what i thought you were. You are starving yourself and doing WAY too much activity. I know you are losing weight, and I'm sure you are excited about it, but you are not losing it correctly. You will end up being like jared from subway: skinny fat. You are headed for a poor body composition. At 260 walking 3 miles a day, you would lose weight properly at 2500 kcals at first.
