Unhappy I hate cardio...

My bodyfat is rising, but I am clean bulking. I just never wanna do cardio. What do y'all use to motivate yourself to go running? (Yes, running/ jogging. I gotta get in shape for wrestling.)

I pep talk myself through the whole ordeal. "Time to run your fat ass, fat boy" "Fat people don't run, do you want to be fat?" "If you don't keep going you are a fat ****"

etc. Probably not the best things to be telling myself, but it works.

Try listening to music that really pumps you up and makes you want to go all out.Sometimes i just dont feel like working out so i listen to some music while I lift and it really gets me going.

That sounds good. I normally listen to music when I lift. Maybe I should think of cardio as a relaxing thing rather than a "GET YOUR ASS IN SHAPE" thing.

Don't pay attention to fat percentage or else you will hate going through the motions. Set athletic goals for yourself with your cardio, always shoot to increase the time you run, or the speed at which you run.... If you are paying attention to athletic goals rather than going through the motions on the treadmill to 'burn fat', then it isn't boring, it's hardcore kickass!

I start by doing only 3 min if I haven't done cardio in a while. Then I work my way up to about 10 min by the end of week 2. 30min not to long after that. Just build it up slowly and it feels pretty darn good. Pretty soon, start pushing it.

:Edited: for some extra explanation

That's your first mistake. Get rid of the negative thinking. Turn it around and think of how ripped you'll get by lowering your bodyfat...by merely doing 20 mins of steady state cardio or HIIT.

Those are your reasons in bold. Focus on your goal(s). Just DO it!!

Enjoy the results! :bigthumbu

Bump to that, I do the same though not often only on days I'm feeling shit - just say something like that, mean it and do it.

MOP....

Instead of worrying about your bodyfat... start thinking about Wrestling.

You mentioned in your post that you had to get in shape for wrestling.

I was also a wrestler in High School, and trust me, I understand what that's about. Use your wrestling season as motivation, if it's something that's important to you.

Bottom line.... it always comes down to wanting your results.. more than you don't want to do your cardio or stick to your diet.

Whether it's wrestling, bodybuilding, or just getting in better shape.

You have to want your desired results more than you want to do the things that are contrary to your goals.

Decide what's most important to you, and then get with the program!

I hate any cardio that doesn't involve gravity or resistance (It just seems so non-productive and boring) and that includes riding my bike on flat ground.

I'm no lightweight (220 lbs 6'2"), but I like a challenge when I workout.

Whoever mentioned listening to music that's a good idea.

One more thing back when I was in college there was a gym that had stairmasters with their own little TV screen attached to the machine. You brought your own headphones and I swear watching your favorite program was a great way to kill some time. Reading something you are really interested in also helps.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys and gals! I will be doing my cardio all the time from now on, no matter what I feel like. I'll just use the Nike slogan: Just Do It!

I love cardio...I am actually the opposite. I gotta talk myself out of doing cardio in fear of getting smaller I limit myself to 15 mins HIIT once a week, (twice a week sometimes to switch it up).

Listening to music that you enjoy (that has a fast beat) is great motivation.
And the above posts are right, don't dwell on how much you hate it...get some sort of reward system going. Do something fun after you get back from the gym so that you have positive reinforcement to associate with the cardio.

when i run i think about wrestling... i try to not think about me running

i like to picture my run as a wrestling match
say im doing 1 and half miles first half mile first period second half mile 2n d period 3rd half mile 3rd period sprint to the end is Overtime. I just picture beating the other guy because i worked harder. I image him biger and stronger then me but i beat hime because i wanted it more and if i dont push my self i picture myself loesing
