Default I am concerned with the effectiveness of my diet...

My wife and I got into a discussion this morning about weight loss.

It got me thinking about progress and where I've come from and what I've done. I quit smoking in November (23rd) of 2003, I then over the next year gained over 40 lbs and it put me at the 300 mark (painfully close). So I quit drinking drinks with sugar in them, started eating tuna with low fat ranch dressing and crackers and chicken and all that jazz and got down to just a hair under 270.

Going through my old-old log on bb.com I was 267 on 12-08-2004. Which means that in the past year and a half I've lost 4 freakin pounds. I look alot more muscular than I did and my biceps are almost an inch larger, chest is alot more defined (and you can feel some SOLID muscle under the fat), tri's look good, calves look great, etc... but I weigh 4 freakin pounds less and my body fat has gone down 2%.

I work out like a fiend, and I've only recently (past 2 weeks) have been doing mad amounts of cardio - but I can't help but feel my diet isn't anywhere close to what it should be.

Breakfast is usually some eggs and egg whites, or a bowl of kashi go-lean (or go lean crunch) with skim milk. Post work out I have a protein shake with oatmeal (I go to the gym shortly after waking up in the afternoon) and then I go to work. I eat every couple of hours, usually consisting of tuna with jalapenos, bread and butter pickles (sweetened with splenda, not sugar) and mayo. Couple more protein shakes throughout the night, some chicken or some ground beef (depdending on the night), and usually a boatload of veggies.

My total calories hovers around 2200-2500. I don't eat carbs after about 5 in the morning (get off work at 8 and head back to the gym, in bed by 10:30) and I usually have some cottage cheese before I go to bed.

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I seem to have the right components and my exercise plans are solid as hell.

I do need to note that I did ckd for a bit when I got back up to 275 and got back down to 265 with that and have been about there since.

I am willing to listen to any suggestions (preferably with examples) anybody has.
