Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 113 | ABC is a good site. Lots of quality information. Generally, refeeding or gradual cycling of calories is a necessity to maintain metabolic stamina. Given that protein must stay high, and carbs are essential for what I think of as the "respiration" of the muscles, you should first cut the fat out of your diet. NOt completely of course, but to a 5 or 10% max. Eventually you will want to cut back on carbs, but there are many ways to avoid this for quite some time. Concetrating you carbs to the morning and early afternoon is one strategy. In the example you are looking for, this may be good to do for say... 2 weeks. Then you may want to spend 4 or 5 days with carbs in every meal again to drive of your metabolism. The process of calorie cycling, in some respects, lengthens the durration of a cut, but in the long run, the muscle you will be sparing by doing frequent re-feeds will shorten the time and increase the effectiveness of your next mass gaining effort. Personally, I don't like to lower my kcals. Instead, I just stay very active and eat at maintenance. This works very well for me, and as long as you don't have rediculous endo qualities or work a seditary day job, it may be worth giving a try. My brain just vommited on you... To sum it up: Yes, cycling your kcals, more specifically, your carbs, is a good way to keep for metabolic suicide. Don't forget your multi.

![]() You know t-nation has an article on their site about it. I didn't get the idea from them, but I thought that I'd mention it in case anyone wants to go and read it.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 162 | As far as I'm concerned the 30 second interval method works for cutting in the same way HIIT does.,...... only 10x more enjoyable. Quote:
As for that 500 calorie defecit.... either it was much more than a 500 calorie defecit OR you were only losing strength because of reduced levels of glycogen, liver glucose, etc.... which occurs naturally in any type of calorie defecit. Losing strength does not always incur muscle loss (and vice versa).
