It's prolly one of the most popular dieting plans. There's tons of logs over at bb.com on it in the Weight Loss section if you're interested.

I tried to very strict carb cycling diet just for fun 7 weeks before my vacation and lost around 2lbs a week, every week. Whereas the month before I hadn't really lost anything while on a pretty strict diet. It broke my plateau like nothing. Although in hindsight I shouldn't have been cutting for 14 months straight anyways.

I was pretty msierable though. After I was completely glycogen depleted each 3rd day of low carb, cardio was absolute hell. After doing my morning cardio it took all I had not to scarf down my cinnamon flavored toothpaste.

There are many, many ways to carb cycle, and they don't all involve going to depletion.

I use different forms of carb cycling in almost all of my programs.... but I don't take ANYONE to depletion unless you are a competitor and in the last 6 days before a competition.

Please don't lump all carb cycling nutrition plans into the ketosis pile!

good pose EME, you should never be carb depleted unless your on your last week before a show, most cycle their carb rotation as a high, med, and low, carb day.. if you start getting depleted then you have a couple of high days in a row to fill out and spark the metabolism, you should never be depleted like what you mentioned Djohnson, first you shouldn't have to run consecutive low days until your really low in bodyfat, and two your high carb days should be high enough to fill you out, and relpenish leptin level a bit!

I never went under 25% carbs but I was still getting depleted with ultra intense cardio and lifting 5 days a week.

the eating 5 times a day thing will be the case in any diet. You need to ask yourself whether or not you are looking to diet properly. 5 times is not even the norm. most people one a quality diet will eat at least 6.

As for the carb cycling: There are two types/reasons to cycle your carbs.

1) to control pull and push water in and out of one's muscle to get "dry"
2) to increase fat burning while staying somewhat usefull in the gym (energy wise)
