Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | why did they classify "healthy food" and "meat & potatos" as seperate categories??????? Since when is meat and potatos not healthy???? STUDY DISQUALIFIED. While white bread had a tendancy to grow the waist line, I'd wage anything people with high sweet diets had the highest BF% gain, and that people who ate meat and potatos were the most physically fit. Damn, i want meat and potatos now.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | why did we have to make white bread a norm?! why could sandwiches at restaurants, and moms who make lunches just get whole wheat bread? I has flavor to it, and the whole reason white bread tastes better is they can feel that quick energy that will get them fat! it should be banned.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 58 | There isn't any food that is going to make you fat unless you eat too many calories. Now "eating healthy", that is a different matter. The question was "the worst food for making you fat is...? The answer: the food that takes you beyond your daily caloric expenditure. uh... in my case, I think that was the last handful of nuts. *

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 176 | If you have a real fast metabolism then eating it is fine. I know Vick Richards eats bowl after bowl of it.. Also Asians eat tons of white rice, and they are usualy skinny as hell. I seriously doubt that white bread, or rice is as fattening as Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey..... 1200 calories... tons of fat in it, and tons of sugar to spike your insulin to make you store the fat.... That is just one exaple but this is true for icecream in general.. So that is my guess... But I totaly agree, that white bread, and rice will make some people fat.. some people are pretty carb sensitive. the other thing I totaly agree with you on is. white bread is the worst tasting bread there is, I will take oat bread, multi grain bread, rye bread, and my favorite.. pumpernickel over white bread any day of the week... |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 15 | Well there is always the argument that people say take in more cals then you burn and you will gain weight. As far as foods anything fried of course or any type of processed or highly refined food I would avoid. And this of course would have to be taken in on a consistant basis.

Of course there are hormonal, genetic and other variables, but how many calories you eat per day vs. how many you burn is still the significant indicator of how fat or lean you will become. Fried food is not going to make you fatter than baked food because of the method of food preparation. Will two fried eggs make you fatter than an 8 oz serving of beef pot roast? Will either one make you fat if you have a caloric deficit over time? 100 calories of butter and 100 calories of olive oil have the same amount of calories. I won't argue that one is not better for your health, but in fat control, they are about equal. Eat the right foods for your health. Eat the right number of calories to control fat levels. Ideally, you are doing both. *

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 15 | I agree FR , I hate it when people say a calorie is a calorie which is BS IMO. They don't look at the overall health benefits of foods and don't realize what goes on inside of your body.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | and i still want to know why "meat and potatos" and "healthy food" were two seperate categories. And I'd like to know the results of the other control groups. I'd also like more detailed information... The study is kind of half assed, no?

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | i would not be surprised. It's unfortunate but true that all research studies done these days have alterior motives where the results are largely dependent on who's funding the researchers.
