your right but your missing the point ... the article is drawing a correlation between "mid-waist obesity" (pair shaped) and the role of unhealthy foods such as white bread, alcohol, and refined sugars. Mid-waist obesity is an epidemic in the US so we need to pay attention to the contributing factors (if your in the field); which is considered more dangerous to ones health than being just overwieght. These folks are at high risk of adult onset or type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease just to mention a few. Im pretty sure he posted it cuz as a bodybuilder your probably not interested in accumluating lower abdominal fat/love handle either

This study is so loose I can't believe they would even post it (thought after re-reading this I'd change it.... they meaning the people who preformed the study). They said they "examined five different diets where one type of food was prominent". Ok, define prominent... Are these "sweets" people eating sweets in every meal?
i agree in part its vague but there are several other studies proving the same theories out there.

Are the white bread people eating white bread with EVERY meal? You can't honestly expect that someone eats that much white bread. Perhaps a sandwhich everyday.
Absolutely! the Americans diet mainly consists of refine flours and starches So yes we eat refined flour by the truck load. other nations such as Japan for the first time are starting to see similar health issues for the first time cus they have adopted the Western diet (thanks McDonalds)

And god knows what else they eat... Like I said, they could eat very unhealthy and calorie dense. .
true but again your missing the point. they are evaluating white bread vs whole grains and other not-so-good foods on mid-section obesity. they are concluding that white bread is worse then the others for midsection fat. its not saying the others are ok...

Mid-waist obeseity?....

You gain fat genetically. There is no food that will make you gain weight in a specific area, however, the stomach is genetically where the most fat stores are located, therefore you would gain the most weight there. Some people gain it in other areas. I would agree that obesity is an issue, but to say americans are getting fat because of white bread, well, that's just silly. Alcohol and refined sugars are what's causing obesity now, not white bread.

(BTW: This debate sounds friendly between you and me, and I just wanna make sure it stays this way. I love to debate, and don't want to sound rude or anything to you, just a friendly debate. Ok? :nosthumbs )

There is a reason why sumo wrestlers eat bowls of white rice and not brown rice.
