Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 94 | I've been noticing more posts from people saying to have all whole eggs, and saying not to be concerned about the cholesterol, etc. What I've been doing when making eggs is I'll usually have 2 whole eggs and 6 whites. :eat: What do you guys think about having all whole eggs instead of splitting it up like I do into mostly whites as far as health issues, fat, cholesterol, etc? :boink:

One whole egg has 78% of your daily allowance of cholesterol, all of it is in the yolk. now that said... When my Father eats a steak he eats the whole steak gristle and all, when he eats pork chops he eats everything but the bone, he eats chicken skin, eats loads of crappy fattening high cholesterol foods, and never exercises.. His cholesterol level is better than most 13 year olds.. My Mother exercises, and watches what she eats.. and her cholesterol is higher than my fathers even when she is taking medication to lower her cholesterol. So the moral of the story is this. If you are prone to getting high cholesterol don't eat the yolks, if not don't worry about it because no matter how much chlesterol you eat your blood cholesterol levels will likely be fine.. your body uses cholesterol, and saturated fats to make testosterone...... | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | There's an article on theomnivore.com (.org???) titled "bad cholesterol, or bad science?" It's a good read. I say whole egg. I eat 6-8 whole eggs at a time. I'm still alive :boink:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 50 | good thing your not a dietician..lol 8 whole eggs is about 800 calories, 16g of fat, 1690mg of cholesterol. egg whites do not have fat or cholesterol. seriously though i have heard this from several ppl recently but im not gonna add it to my diet. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | no, a large egg is 70 calories :p (ex large is 75-80 depending on where you get them, and the jumbos are 90). 8 whole large eggs is only 560-600 calories. Fat is an integral part of diet, and the yoke by it's self contains ~6-8g of protein. Unfortunately very few people will agree with me on my theories on nutrition. I tend to agree more with the new age of thinking...

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 41 | I think if your diet is generally balance, you don't need to worry much about the cholesterol from egg wholes. For my meal 6, I always include 8 egg whites and 1 extra large egg whole.

Until I see some research showing the cholesterol isn't a problem I'll just add more egg whites to make up the protein deficit. :nosthumbs

Blood cholesterol is much more to do with genetics than dietary factors.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | I will never throw away a yolk... the yolk is where all the nutrients in the egg are (not to mention they're yummy! :eat: ) builtbeast, I think I am the opposite of you... once I read enough to convince me that eating eggs = high blood cholesterol, then I might think twice. However, like previously stated, if you are already prone to high cholesterol levels, THEN I would watch intake. Also, does anyone have any comments on the lecithin in the egg yolk and it's cholesterol lowering qualities? I have heard a few things about it, but not enough to tell someone about it confidently. Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 114 | I used to just do no yolks in the morning (slow down digestions) and all whole eggs at night. These days, I'm doing a ton more whole eggs.... very kcal dense.
