Default Tuna can says a serving is 1/4 of can but only 2.5 servings??

The tuna can says one serving is 1/4 of the can and there's 2.5 servings of 1 can. I don't get this. The one serving is 70 calories with 16 grams of protein and no cabrs/fats...How many calories/protien is the whole can?

And another question...when I make eggs, does there have to be oil in the pan?

Ok thanks, for the eggs, does there have to be something there? Because I'm cutting and the oil is a lot of calories.

I'd guess that there would be- unless you have a VERY good non-stick pan. Pick up some of that 1 cal spray oil stuff (I'm not sure what brands you would have in the States)

you can actually cook scarmbled eggs in the microwave in which case you simply put a bowl with the scrambled eggs in and let it go...no oil/butter/pam is needed...just make sure you have an oversized bowl because the eggs expand ALOT (they shrink back down after you cool them)

a serving of tuna is 2oz. or (1/4th cup) not 1/4th of the can... each can contains 6oz. of tuna, which is roughly 2.5 to 3 servings, because all of the cans are not filled the same.. I am sure everyone here has gottten odd ball cans that were mostly water, and very little fish, and I am sure you have gotten some that were much more packed with fish than average.... Anyway a whole can has roughly 2.5 servings at 13 grams of protein a serving, so your answer 32.5 grams of protein per can

as far as the oil, if you get a good non stick pan than no.. I have made plenty of eggs with no oil, but a lot of oils are really good for you.. olive oil is one of the best... you have to be careful because some things turn into trans fats after being cooked.. margerine for example is one of them.. I stick to good old extra light olive oil when cooking... It is light in flavor not calories, extra virgin is not made for cooking, infact cooking ruins its intended flavor. so use it for salad dressing, and use the light, or extra light for cooking...

get a non stick cooking spray which has a canola or olive oil base. my mom always gets the kind that has a partial hydrogenated oil base...watch out for those.

There doesn't have to be but it helps prevent the eggs from sticking.

Use a spray on olive oil like pam. I spray it for half a second, just enough to lightly coat the pan. That way the calories are minimal.
