Default Timing of last meal

So I eat 6 meals a day and I am just a little bit curious about the timing of my meals. I am trying to bulk but like everyone trying to minimize the fat. Currently I have about a 4 pack so not quite a 6..And a nice line down the middle..but i am trying to get to the next step to get a full blown 6 pack going... Currently I am really busy during the day and I generally eat my last meal right before I go to bed. Now is this going to just pack on mostly fat? or should I make sure that i eat it at least an hour before i go to bed? Or should i just have a protein shake before i go to bed? thanks guys

No. Whether your calories are stored as fat or used for some productive purpose (let's pretend for a moment that fat is not productive) depends solely on whether your eating excess calories in the span of the day/week/month.

Only reason to do this is if the only meal available to you was of a macronutrient profile that was disadvantageous immediately pre-bed. E.g., starchy carb meals. THAT meal would be better served with some time before bed, but even then - it's a fart in the wind in the big picture.

That's the supplement of choice lately, especially with the younger guys. Remember, though, if you can handle dairy, cottage cheese is just about the best pre-bed snack you can find. It's cheap, dead-on for the nutrient you want, and mixes well with dietary fats like natural PB and almonds. And you can choke it down plain, if you like it that way.

There's numerous powders out there, but few are as cheap as good old fashioned cottage cheese. Nice and slow-digesting, easy on the stomach, low in sugars, low GI.... what more could you want?

And casein powders work find, too, but mix them with water instead of milk to cut the lactose out. I don't minimize my lactose intake, but I'm not going for a 6-pack either.

But how much does this affect whether you have a 6-pack or not? Just a little bit. Big picture diet quality and overall caloric intake is what really matters.

well i know cottage cheese is healthy for you but i just honestly can't stand it...its about one of the only things i can't pack down..I tend to like my tuna sandwhiches close to bed time..usually have 1 can and spread it out over 3 sandwhiches with celery chopped up in it...i could also take a protein shake and mix in some of my carbo mix (its basically just starch) with some milk...and take some efa's...i really like my milk before bed too...

my carb intake is quite high right now for me because I am trying to gain wait...so i guess i'll just have to try and maintain as much abs as i can right now while i pack on and then get the full 6 when i am done gaining..

any lean meat is fine if your not a CC nut. Slap on some healthy fats and/or dark greens, and you'll be hot to roll through the night.

If you don't like CC, then just use powdered casein. Or if you like tuna, then just eat the tuna. You have options there.

Wouldn't you agree that just about any meat would suffice?

Tuna, Steak, Chicken Breast, Turkey

Sure. Any meat would do. Slow is the priority. The boy mentioned tuna, so that's what I echoed, but it doesn't matter.
