Also - what is maltodextrin and how does it compare to Dextrose?!? Any information on exactly what it does as well as how much to take would be great - Thanks!!! |

http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/dextrose.php basicly dextrose is a simple carb(sugar) that spikes your insulin. maltodextrin is a fast digesting complex carb.. if taken together they work synergisticly to replenish your glycogen stores, and shuttle the protein in your post workout drink right where you want it to go... to your muscles... I just picked up some of both today... you are supposed to take .4 grams per lb of bodymass of each. | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Awesome link - thank you!! So it keeps your insulin levels from falling after working out. I should comsume both - not one or the other - immediately following my workout. So my PWO shake will look like this?!? -2 scoop ON whey protein -Glutamine -Dextrose -maltodextrin Should I mix them all together??! Right now I mix my glutamine with water or apple juice and drink - then drink my protien shake. Should I dump all four together and drink half right away - then slowly drink other half over the next 1/2 hour?!?! Sound right??? |

That looks good. Personally, I only do 30 grams of Dextrose PWO (with whey) simply because I eat a large whole food meal consisting of moderate and slow digesting carbs and protein about 25 minutes afterwards.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 15 | YOu don't need dextrose or simple carbs postworkout. Many take in low GI carbs IE oats or another complex source. Don't get fooled on all the hype that u need high GI. My gains have been the leanest ever since switching about 5 years ago

Dextrose made me fatter than it did add muscle. Or you can do a combo of high and low gi. Test it out for yourself.
