Ive really been doing the PWO shake wrong. probably missed a good amount of gains by not knowing exactly what to do.

it's all BS. Don't sweat it.

I don't care how hard you train, unless you are cutting or on a restricted carb diet, carbs are not depleted to any dangerously catabolic level PWO... unless you just ran a long distance.

While cutting, dextrose might be in order... but otherwise, a low fiber starch (white rice or red skin potato) will do you better and produce leaner gains.

Bodytype has a lot to do with this. Ectos can do sugar as often as they'd like, meso's in moderation, and endo's... never.

I never bought into High GI carbs PWO. I use oats and love them.

Nearly all of the studies that show High GI carbs to be beneficial PWO used completely depleted athletes, which as bodybuilders, we would never be.

I don't think it would hurt too much, unless you go overboard and can't handle the High GI stuff. For endos, if would be a terrible idea. For ectos, it would be just fine.

Alan Aragon (who used to think High GI carbs were the way to go), now believes that the GI of the carb matters very little, as long as there is a carb source present.

I look at it this way: If the GI doesn't matter, what would I rather put in my body: Sugar or Oats/Rice Powder? I'll take the stuff with some nutritional value before I dump dex/malto into my body.

Just my opinion.

do you pre chop up your oats or just dump them in?

i just bring a shaker bottle, no blender to the gym, guess i might have to prechop.

i've never liked gound up oats... PLUS, it kinda defeats the purpose of oats anyway.... part of what makes them so low GI is their physical structure... as soon as u process them... you take away a lot of the slowness. Granted, I believe PWO, it's a great compromise. YOu still get all the fiber and what not.

Still a fast starch (similar to ground oats) is best for all except ectos and ecto-mesos alike.

my opinion anyway. i would never know for sure. everyone is different.
